Demon Slayer Movie VS Season 2 first!?

Hey guys!!! I've had people constantly telling me separate things - and I figured why not make a poll so we can settle the score?!

You guys decide :)

should watch Demon Slayer Season 2 first or the Demon Slayer Movie?

I know the movie is essentially the first 6 episodes of season 2 but without the filler, but I feel like if I watch the movie first I shouldn't do commentary on the first 6 episodes then! What do you guys think?

I always try to avoid anime fight serials in the first place, since I know they’ll all be almost identical, and never, never end. (And no, that opinion does not come from a bad experience with One Piece.). It’s only out of respect for Diane, and a need to clean off my Netflix queue before quitting, that I still stick with Seven Deadly Sins. My advice is to skip Demon Hunter, and do Dirty Pair instead. 😅 (Or, wait, when did HiDive start streaming Azumanga Daioh, and no one told me??)

I'd definitely watch the first episode, then the movie, the first episode is about the flame hashira, and what kinda guy he is, which you'll want to know before watching the rest.

Whichever makes the least sense, I love chaos.

The structure of season 2 is odd. It goes like this: Episode 1 = Mugen Train Prelude Episodes 2-7 = Mugen Train Arc Episodes 8-18 = Entertainment District Arc The Mugen Train movie is the entire Mugen Train arc (episodes 2-7) compiled into a movie. The optimal viewing, in my opinion and I hope others agree, is to watch the Mugen Train movie, then watch episode 1, then jump to episode 8 to begin the next arc (basically the release order). The movie hits much harder as it was intended to be viewed in its entirety in a single sitting. Hence, why they produced it as a 2hr movie and released it in theaters. Just my 2 cents. The Mugen Train film was the highest grossing film in 2020 worldwide, and I believe it's the highest grossing film (or animation?) from Japan of all time - The second is Spirited Away.

I feel like the animation and pacing of the movie is much better. And like Erik said it only replaces 4 episodes.

You could still do commentary on the first six ep. It could give you a chance to talk MORE in depth of topics you bring up during movie watch. Or you can talk about other points you ran out of time for during the other watch. Of course if you really don't want to that's absolutely ok. You do you. Be confident and affirmed we'll always support your final decision 💯

STEEL Metal

The season has one extra episode and a couple of short scenes that wasn't in the movie. But otherwise the movie is identical to episodes 2-6.
