Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire | Full Length Reaction!
Added 2022-11-23 03:14:13 +0000 UTCWatched on HBO Max!
Hey guys!! So here it finally is, the fourth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!! I truly had no idea what I was going to experience going in, but I ended up being impressed by the story, cinematography, world and characters (as per usual) but this film seemed to be significantly darker than the previous ones as well as sadder. I have to say I may have liked this one a bit more than the last, that or they’re tied!! I really can’t tell. But thank you for joining me and I truly hope you enjoy! I had a lot of fun watching:)

2022-11-27 05:28:30 +0000 UTCDid you catch that one of the other Death Eater surnames quoted was Goyle... as in Draco's two favorite toadies: Crabbe and (gasp) Goyle.

2022-11-24 02:31:15 +0000 UTCNeville was really affected by the Cruciatus Curse demonstration because that's what happened to his Parents. They were tortured and their injuries so bad that Neville had to go live with his Grandma.

2022-11-23 19:31:33 +0000 UTCExplaining events in the film: Of course, Cedric is nice, lol, he's house Hufflepuff, notoriously nice and chill peeps in Hufflepuff :). So the first challenge, everyone wishes to to see the dragon fights but the budget and time was too much. This is a very thick book for Harry Potter book 4. TONS of stuff to cover. Just wasn't plausible. He is allowed to ride his broom because it was summoned by his wand. The wand was the only tool they were allowed to bring, but the wand allows any wizard to use all their other tools as long as the wand was used to bring it to them. In the book, they shows that Harry practiced for like a month on the Accio spell to make sure he could summon his broom from soo far away. All the structural damage gets repaired quickly, 1 because of magic, and 2 because the castle is full of house elves casting that magic with a snap of their fingers. The dragons were shipped back to their homelands with the help of Ron's older brother Charlie (you meet him in another movie). He's been mentioned a few times now about how he works with dragons; when Hagrid had that baby dragon in the first film and here in this film. As a side note, one other thing that happened this year, Hagrid did a little illegal magical creature breeding, lol. He made the Blast-Ended Screwts, giant (SUV-sized) rodents that have explosive farts, that end up in the maze in the book. Olympe Maxime is the first half-giant that Hagrid has met. He was instantly taken with her since they have a similar experience being a half-breed. However, Olympe is a very french and proper lady and did get offended by Hagrid bringing it up, at first. In the second challenge, the 'prize' at the end for each champion to save were their dates during the dance, since Harry spent more time with Ron then Patty, his actual date at the dance lol, Ron was taken as Harry's prize, lol. And yes, those bodies underwater were moldings of the actors, not really them. The films have been hinting at Ron's interest in Hermione. Hermione knows it but Ron is a little thick headed and isn't ready to admit it to himself and everyone else. That's why he was such a jerk. Teenagers, right? lol. In the book, they talk about how Victor Krum is a brute with magic, i.e. he forces his spells rather then learn the nuances, which is presumed why he is only able to do a half transformation into a shark. Also, presumed why he was effected by the Imperius curse during the maze, he isn't strong, mentally, to resist it. Fleur was attacked by creatures in the lake, Grindylows. They have a paralyzing bite, which is why she was disqualified, she couldn't complete the challenge in the time frame. RIP Alan Rickman, I loved the delivery of the line about the Veritaserum, "use on a student is... ...regrettably forbidden, HOWEVER..." loved it! The reason Voldemort looks like a snake is presumed to be because him and Wormtail used Nagini's eggs (Voldemort's giant pet snake) to give him a body of flesh for his spirit/shadow to inhabit until they could capture Harry to resurrect himself with his blood. Each area of the world has its own Wizarding school, even America, which you learn a little about in the Fantastic Beast films, a prequel series of films that takes place during the 1920-1930s-ish. Get to see a younger Dumbledore.

2022-11-23 17:20:14 +0000 UTCI stopped pledging a couple of months ago since I'm not too fond of Marvel. It was fun during the avengers days, but now it just feels repetitive and "quantity over quality" (from Marvels/Disneys side) if you know what I mean. I understand that your viewers are mostly Marvel fans, which is completely fine, but I miss the time when you reacted to a more diverse range of movies etc. Now it seems like you are mainly a Marvel reactor. Which is fine! Just wanted to give you some feedback from an older viewer who there might be more of. But I'm happy to repledge and watch some Harry Potter. :)

2022-11-23 15:40:48 +0000 UTCI can sort of forgive and forget these details from the books. What gets me is how to constantly change what Expelliarmus do to the opponent. lol

2022-11-23 14:21:27 +0000 UTCAlso the Maze isn’t a psychological at all. In the book, the champions had to get through the Maze by fighting off Magical Creatures inside there like Boggarts, Blast-Ended Screwts, Sphinxes and giant spiders. Director Mike Newell did this because he thought in the book, the Maze reduce the characters to their animal components where they become savage, wild and uncivilized. But none of them are except Krum because he was under the Imperius Curse not the Maze. Newell completely missed the point of the Maze and just made something up out of thin air by adding the psychological aspect. You can’t change and bend the source material because it leaves so many plot holes, makes the film have inconsistencies and it pisses the fans of the book off.

2022-11-23 07:54:35 +0000 UTCBig take-away for me: characters in this series can die. You can't just expect someone to be too important to the story to be written out. Everyone is potentially fair game.

2022-11-23 06:32:37 +0000 UTCThere are 7 mysteries that were up in the Goblet of Fire. 1. Who put Harry’s name in the Goblet of Fire? 2. Who casted the Dark Mark? 3. Was Barty Jr innocent? 4. What happened to Bertha Jorkins? 5. Who were the Weasley Twins were blackmailing? 6. How did Reta Skeeter find out and write while she’s not allowed in the Hogwarts past First Task? 7. How the Riddles were murdered? The movie only kept one and that’s who put Harry’s name in.

2022-11-23 04:58:05 +0000 UTCAll the schools are Co-Ed. This 'girls' school and 'boys' school is just for this film. All magic schools are co-ed. Couple things not in the films but in book 4. Book 4 is a thick book, lol. The reporter Rita Skeeter, is discovered, by Hermione, to also be an unregistered animagus. She changes into a bug so she can get her gossip by sneaking into places and listening in. She spies on Hermione a lot and publishes slander about her love life. Hermione finds out she can change into a bug, traps hers in a jar a little bit, trying to teach her a lesson, lol. Hermione also tries to start a club called S.P.E.W., Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. We and Hermione find out that there is an army of enslaved elves in the kitchens of Hogwarts (all those meals in the main hall is made and then transported by the elves in the kitchens, directly below the main hall), enslaved but very happy. Helga Hufflepuff, one of the Hogwarts founders, enlisted a bunch of elves to help with cleaning, maintenance, cooking at Hogwarts. Unlike most house elves, these elves are very happy about their work and living at Hogwarts, Dobby lives among them but is free to come and go as he wishes. Hermione finds out and takes in upon herself, against the wishes of the elves, to fight for their rights. She even tries to trick them into freeing themselves by leaving clothes all over the castle for them to accidentally pick up and get freed. She starts to have small issues at Hogwarts with her bunk not getting cleaned, small nuisances, because she is annoying the elves. Voldemort made his first appearance in the Sorcerer's Stone because he was able to possess the body of snakes and Professor Quirrell. After his defeat, the dark lord retreated back to an Albanian forest and continued to possess the spirits and bodies of his slithering peers. Peter Pettigrew's rats led him to the forest where Voldemort was living as a dark shadow feasting on small animals. The Death Eater helped Voldemort achieve a physical body strong enough to travel back to London to trap Harry. This year you find out that Neville's parents aren't dead but are insane and have been committed due to intense torture from the Cruciartus curse. Tortured so badly that they don't even recognize there own son, Neville, when he visits them. We find out that the phoenix feather that resides in Harry and Voldemort's wand came from Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes. For winning the Tri-Wizard tournament, Harry gets a bunch of gold, but he doesn't need it because of the fortune his parents left him. So he gives it to Fred and George Weasley for a 'business opportunity' they have been brewing up. Sirius Black is hiding in the mountains of Hogwarts, in his black dog form, with the help of Dumbledore. Harry visits him occasionally and is known around the school grounds as Snuffles. The Confundus charm Mad-eye Moody was talking about in how Harry got his name in the Goblet of Fire was that Mad-eye tricked the Goblet into thinking Harry was the only student entered from a fake fourth school. Dumbledore says a phrase at the end of the film when Harry tells him about the wands connecting, Priori Incantatem. Its a spell that forces a wand to reveal its last spells cast, in this case forcing the four Killing curse spells last used by Voldemort's wand. The reason this spell was triggered is because both wand cores come from the same phoenix. Wands are sort a living things and the cores of both of these wands don't tend to want to kill each other since they come from the same magical creature, so there is a resistance the wands have with the wizards they have chosen to be wielded by. They can't stop the wizards from casting spells but they can be a little rebellious about the spell being cast, thus this connection. Additionally, those weren't the ghosts of Harry's mom and dad, and Cedric, and the caretaker killed at the beginning of this film; they were echoes of the victims of the Killing curse spells cast by Voldemort.

2022-11-23 04:57:24 +0000 UTCThis one is my least favorite film in the series. Director Mike Newell took over and he never read the books or saw previous 3 films before getting a job which is frightening. He cut a lot out from the book that I really enjoyed like Barty Jr’s development, the Quidditch World Cup, the House Elves and getting Dumbledore wrong. Every scene he’s in he’s screaming and sounds angry. In the books, he’s pretty much always calm and rarely raises his voice and he did get angry when he bursts down the door to stop Barty Jr.
