Added 2022-05-07 03:46:58 +0000 UTCThis episode destroyed me... I genuinely did not know what to do with myself after it. I felt so anxious and panicked it was an extremely difficult watch. It seems as though the show might become more and more difficult to watch but I commend everyone working on the show for its ability to instill such emotions in a viewer.
I can't say I hope you enjoy watching it due to its heaviness in nature, but I hope you enjoy watching it with me. :)

Just for future reference - if you have a gnat flying around you, it might be permissible to stop the video, kill the gnat, and restart the video. (And fix it in the edit.)

I took it as more of a tool used to dramatize the story even further. However, it is ALSO possible this was narrated from information closer to the period. Wherein radiation wasn't QUITE as well understood. something like that would have been a fairly logical assumption to doctors working in Moscow who likely didn't consult with the scientific community as much as maybe they could have. She DID lose a baby after the incident and given the lack of knowledge she and docs in moscow would have had I could see that statement being made at the time. but yes for a couple decades at least now (likely much longer among scientist that work with the stuff on a regular basis) we're much more aware of the behaviour of radiation ( specifically of these types) :) Ultimately on the facts I agree. Just not as convinced it was a politically (or socially) charged statement per se . 2022-05-12 15:30:01 +0000 UTCFACTUAL ERROR IN THE SHOW (if you see this, please read Vee) THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS THE SHOW GETS WRONG. Honestly this is the part of the show that made me think there is some anti nuclear energy political agenda going on with the producers of the show, trying to spread fear into people who know nothing about how gamma ray radiation is broken down. The tarp where her husband is is meant to protect HIM from HER. Not her from radiation. He's already been decontaminated. In reality she is allowed to get as close to him as she wanted but the trade off is she is the one that would kill him due to his immune system being destroyed, Hence the tarp housing to protect him from germs and outside contaminants. If it was to protect her from radiation, they would of used more then a plastic tarp. So yes this is that part of the show that spreads mis information about radiation. In reality, her and her baby would be 100% fine, and this is quite frankly a dramatized part of the show.
