My Writing Process for Scripts [Writer's Blog #8]

Hello everyone, hope you're doing well.

Normally in these posts, I give you all updates on the book I'm working on. I'm still working on that project, but the process is taking longer than anticipated (real life go brrr), which I'm not happy about. However, there's no use in crying over spilled milk, so all we can do is keep moving.

A couple of you have expressed interest in my writing process in the past. As some of you may know, I write about 99% of the scripts for the videos and audios that go up on here and over on YouTube. At some point in the future, I would like the bring another writer on board to help with scripts, but for now, the vast majority of it is done by me. I understand that not every creator has the time or proclivity for writing scripts, which is totally fine. There's nothing wrong with outsourcing and working with other writers (as long as they are properly compensated). However, seeing as writing is my passion, this step in the video making process is probably my favorite (and the most time consuming), and I'm not going to give it up anytime soon.

Above is an image of a general outline for an audio I did early this month for the Moons tier. Generally speaking, when it comes to stories with a more complex storyline, I like to plot out what is going to be in the script before writing it (please excuse my trash handwriting, I didn't know that anyone else was going to see it until now). Scribbling all my thoughts out on paper helps me fully process and understand exactly what will go on in the script. More importantly, it gives me time to fully flush out complicated and integral details.

After the general outline is done, I then start typing up the script. I don't follow the outline to the letter as during the script writing process, I may come up with better ideas, or replace an old idea with a new one. It's really important to note that an outline is a general idea of what you're going to be writing. You don't need to follow it biblically. Sometimes, the best ideas are the ones you come up with on the spot.

From there it's just finishing the script, record, edit, and upload. I'm very much simplifying the process, but if we were to dive into specifics, you'll find that I'm not a very process oriented person. I don't find outlines to be helpful all the time, especially for scripts that deal with emotional topics of conversation. Generally speaking, when lore is involved, that's when I write one.

I hope this all gave you some insight as to how my brain works. Let me know if there's anything else in terms of writing you would like me to discuss.

Thank you so much for reading, take care.

That's some crazy and great planning. I used to write random short stories growing up because of some great ideas (or what I thought was great) that would come to mind and I didn't want to immediately lose it so I just write a short story. But nowadays I just don't write anymore, I just play them in my head like a short film. Looking forward to more of your amazing stories Lune! Much love and support as always but remember your health is number 1 priority haha.
