It's Monday! Let's take a look at what went on last week!

Since my first full day of programming was Saturday last week (late start plus tons of emails) I decided to put my nose to the grindstone for the last 10 days and get as much done as possible. I got quite a lot done, too! The ability to make completely new friends and avatars in the Besti SDK is functioning now, and in-game customization on that is coming shortly.  

I've gotten some confused emails on that lately, so let me explain what's good about the Besti SDK being able to add new content to the game and why I've spent the last 3 weeks on that. In Besti 9, there's only one type of friend character. You can accessorize that friend type and modify it in a lot of ways, but it's the same basic concept and overall 3D model/mesh. The Pony character can never be a dragon, for example. It is always a Pony. The concept behind Besti X is to have a more robust capability of customization than Besti 9 has on a given character type (called "Bases" in Besti X), but it also has the ability to have entirely new characters that you add yourself, or get online. In game, you'll have similar options to customize each individual base in a way similar to Besti 9, but you'll be able to have conceptually different types of characters, or be one yourself. It's a huge difference, and was worth sitting here for the last several weeks to make it <3

In any case, everything now works on bipeds and I just need some minor adjustments for quadrupeds. After that, it's onto cleaning that up for a new SDK release then to putting in the AI features <3 That's it!

Also this week a lot of work got done on the extreme content project, and that's going to be my focus entirely this week once I'm done with emails. I'll re-evaluate how that's coming on Thursday, and if is looking like it won't be ready for Monday (the 5th Monday this month) I'll switch gears and make some new content. Hell or high water something fun is coming out to play on Monday. <3

At some random times through the week I worked on setting up the new bigger office space for some light construction. Finding a contractor is a nightmare. The job is too small a job to get the interest of people (at most 2 days of work for anyone with experience), but in Portland Oregon where we are, it's a $1000 fine for both you and the person who does the work if you pay a person to install a window and a door that doesn't have a state license to do it. I don't have the time to do it myself, so the hunt is on. I'll hopefully get someone to take that job this week because I'm sick of talking to people and have them go "Hmmmm. That's not a very big job..." then ghost me. For real I've had 4 companies come out, spend a half hour out here, and then vanish.  In any case, I cleaned it last week, and it's going to be lovely to have a place I'm not embarrassed to have a performance artist come over for NSFW mocap for bipeds/making neat items/helping me with my home/life balance.

Tangentially related: we're looking hard for people with netcode experience, and we're rapidly approaching needing a programmer to work with on that.
