What if...
Added 2018-11-04 22:22:01 +0000 UTCI wrote a book without a harem. Would you be disappointed?
I'm asking in all seriousness.
Flip me your opinions at the bottom. :)
Minor Edit: There would of course be a romance element.

I don't read/listen to your works because of the harem element. I'm far more interested in creativity and originality. I'm bored with the the overly utilized trope that most sci-fi/fantasy writers use. Why does the MC have to be a good guy? Why do the good guys always win when it's all over? Fuck that. I read these works because the MCs are doing what they believe needs done with the understanding that some of their choices aren't socially acceptable. It's refreshing to read works that follow people who are morally grey. The harem aspect is just, for lack of better terminology, background/sub plot.
2018-11-18 19:01:58 +0000 UTCThe harem element makes for an interesting difference from a lot of what else I read, but it is not a deciding factor one way or the other. I have enjoyed the characters and the storytelling as a primary factor. I would be interested in seeing what kind of story line you want to go for and what you want to do with it. As a side note: some of the artwork you have had commissioned for them also drew my attention and interest, as I’m a fan of the illustrator!
Peter
2018-11-14 05:59:11 +0000 UTCI wouldn't necessarily be disappointed; you're a great author and I'll read whatever you put out. That said, I think you do an awesome job with writing harems, so hopefully you wouldn't leave the genre for long ;)
Raymond Jeffries
2018-11-08 15:53:42 +0000 UTCI read your books because they are good, one without a harem will be just as enjoyable.
Arthur Hayes
2018-11-08 04:52:33 +0000 UTCI don't buy your books because of the harems, I buy them because of the engaging characters and yes the sex. The main character doesn't have to be the only person that gets a meaningful relationship either. Branch out and grow.
Stephen E Wilson Jr.
2018-11-07 21:41:22 +0000 UTCI enjoy your harem books because you write the characters and story well. Not a lot of harem stories right now do a great job making all the members feel real. I would miss that aspect but at the same time i would be excited to read a non harem book from because I have liked everything you have wrote so far. Just please no love triangle or naive youth MC.
2018-11-07 01:49:35 +0000 UTCNo harem needed to keep me interested in your writing.
2018-11-06 21:21:59 +0000 UTCNah. While I like harem I am just as fond of pure adventure or adventure with a single love interest.
James Domec
2018-11-06 20:42:04 +0000 UTCI enjoy the harem elements, but I'd be up for something new. What I've really wanted to read is something in the vein of Starship Troopers. Something futuristic, but has some grit. You do have some futuristic elements in SSOSH, so you have the vernacular for it. I'm getting a little tired of superheroes and magic, a clever anti-hero wouldn't go amiss.
2018-11-06 19:00:50 +0000 UTCGo for it. I tend to skip the graphic harem elements because they are so predictable.
Clarke
2018-11-06 13:12:57 +0000 UTCJean, if you want, I'll be happy to keep an eye on Audible releases and email or PM you when a release date is announced. Just let me know what titles and or Authors you're interested in. my email is robbhammack@gmail.com :)
Robert Hammack
2018-11-06 07:07:34 +0000 UTCTotally up for it. while I enjoy a good harem, a nice 1 on 1 romance, or a straight adventure, action, or scifi/fantasy without romance is fine as well. A good story, plot, and interesting characters who develop is all I need to say, it's a really good book! some of my all-time favorites have no real romantic element to them.
Robert Hammack
2018-11-06 07:01:56 +0000 UTCOf course you can ask. February 2019
William D. Arand
2018-11-06 03:20:29 +0000 UTCI would buy it. I have all of your books in audio format. I think a non-harem book would be interesting. I am new and this is my first post. I have a question and hope it's okay to ask here. Where can I find the release dates for Audible. I am Dyslexic and reading is very difficult for me. I decided to support you in hopes you would continue to publish on Audible. Thank you, for the wonderful worlds and character. Keep up the excellent work.
2018-11-06 03:19:53 +0000 UTCYou have a knack for making really enjoyable and memorable female characters. So if you focused on one love interest instead of a harem I'll expect something really amazing. PANCAKES

2018-11-06 00:06:26 +0000 UTCLove your writing brother. I'm with Daniel on this one, if you write it, I will read it.
John DeBlanc
2018-11-05 20:08:56 +0000 UTCIf you write it I will read it. End. Of. Story.
Daniel Schinhofen
2018-11-05 19:01:30 +0000 UTCI have enjoyed your many books, the harem aspects have had no input on my buying process. I buy your books because you write excellent and interesting stories.
2018-11-05 15:45:14 +0000 UTCI don't think anyone will begrudge you for diversifying as long as they feel like you aren't killing off whatever their favorite book series is. That said, what you do write inside that niche has been excellent.
2018-11-05 15:01:00 +0000 UTCMy reply is no harem needed
2018-11-05 14:03:27 +0000 UTCGood Story, no harem needed
2018-11-05 13:51:16 +0000 UTCI'll read it.
Ben Foard
2018-11-05 13:34:13 +0000 UTCEither way is fine, but how about a female protag? 💜
Flinxie
2018-11-05 12:41:11 +0000 UTCNo disappointment harem is funny but not a requirement for your writing in my opinion.
Dragon35
2018-11-05 12:32:34 +0000 UTCHonestly thought you were gonna keep the harem element out of ssosh (3 does not make a harem even if two of those can be 100) but i like the story both ways anyways.
2018-11-05 12:29:56 +0000 UTCGo for it
Artman
2018-11-05 09:40:50 +0000 UTCIf the story is good and the writing is up to your Standard! 👍
Randy Smith
2018-11-05 09:26:34 +0000 UTCSo long as the character development remains as good as you seem so capable of, and the stories flow as well as they have been, the Harem element does not seem vital.
Karl Maurer
2018-11-05 09:23:50 +0000 UTCI enjoy your books for the stories and the characters the harem has little to do with it.
2018-11-05 08:47:20 +0000 UTCWhy is this a question? What are you thinking about your fan base that would make this s serious question?
Carl Gherardi
2018-11-05 07:57:05 +0000 UTCHarem of no harem makes no difference to me so long as it's a good story
2018-11-05 07:25:15 +0000 UTCGo for it personally I don't care about harems in a story what matters is the quality of the story and you write quality stories
Avoid Shisnos
2018-11-05 06:28:13 +0000 UTCNo
jongre1512
2018-11-05 06:05:34 +0000 UTCDepends on the story but you have built up a lot of credit and goodwill so far. I would read it and decide then. So far the only one of your books that I didn't finish was FF. Just didn't hook me in so one out of all the rest seems like a you are doing just fine in my opinion. Keep up the good work!
Paul Boros
2018-11-05 05:33:57 +0000 UTCSorry you feel that way. Not every book will work for everyone. I will never please everyone. :)
William D. Arand
2018-11-05 05:08:33 +0000 UTCWrite what you want to write. I'm here because I see a noticable rise in quality over time and want to see what you can do with more time to write.
Adam Beattie
2018-11-05 04:36:24 +0000 UTCNo offense, but your harems have been mostly take 'em or leave em so far. I'm more concerned with the fact that I want to strangle some of your MCs. There's flawed characters, and then there's Vince and Ryker. Which really sucks, because I love the rest of Dungeons Deposed.
Devon
2018-11-05 04:30:11 +0000 UTCTBH I tend to enjoy your stories despite the harem elements not because of them. I'm willing to believe that I'm the minority though.
Jayde Russell
2018-11-05 04:09:42 +0000 UTCI think I'm with both of them, I've enjoyed your stories harems and all but i wouldn't necessarily be against there being no harems in one.
Paul Sneddon
2018-11-05 03:40:39 +0000 UTCHonestly i would probably prefer it, nothing against harems but not every story is a nail so to speak.
Mrdelta
2018-11-05 02:56:03 +0000 UTCNo i wouldn't be disappointed.
Null_is_Void
2018-11-05 02:44:59 +0000 UTCI'd be fine with it as long as he still had somebody devoted to him / he's devoted to. Just a solo dude that doesn't touch a woman for 3 years? Not really my thing.
Andrew
2018-11-05 02:37:04 +0000 UTCHonestly it might help make the book more plot-focused.
Kurt A
2018-11-05 02:30:28 +0000 UTCNo. I think it would be good for you. I loved Super Sales on Super Heroes (the first book) and it was harem-marginal. The quality of your writing has little to do with harems.
sdf
2018-11-05 02:28:59 +0000 UTCSounds good either way. I enjoy your style of writing so have at it.
2018-11-05 01:42:16 +0000 UTCNo I wouldn't. Though I agree with Corbin to a point ... You could have the explicit content with only one pair ... It just more fun/and complicated with more.
Rafnar Caldon
2018-11-05 01:16:41 +0000 UTCHappy to read what you write, with or without harem themes.
J B
2018-11-05 01:08:29 +0000 UTCIf it was a Randi Darren book I think the reader would be disappointed. If it is a William D. Arand book I don't think it matters as much. The first 2 SSOSH books would barely be considered a harem and there isn't really explicit content yet they were very run reads. The story is the most important aspect. I might add this at the beginning of the promotional blurb, "This book does not contain a harem. Seriously, it doesn't."
2018-11-05 00:59:50 +0000 UTCNot at all
2018-11-05 00:52:45 +0000 UTCI am with Dom. I feel like you could do so much more with a story if you were not nailed to a harem theme.
Sentein
2018-11-05 00:41:21 +0000 UTCYou just write what ever stories you need to tell.
Robert Jensen
2018-11-05 00:26:17 +0000 UTCI read your books because you are a great story teller. The harem was a bonus, and to be honest a bit over played at the moment.
Dominic Harney
2018-11-05 00:09:24 +0000 UTCNice change of pace, and an opportunity to explore new plot angles.
2018-11-05 00:00:50 +0000 UTCNo not at all, as long as it's good, I'd be happy to read it
2018-11-04 23:55:44 +0000 UTCNot disappointed at all. I’m sure whatever story you tell will be great with or without the harem. Legion First!
2018-11-04 23:45:41 +0000 UTCI would honestly read anything you write. Would it be different? Sure. But I’d still enjoy it
Joshua Toennis
2018-11-04 23:43:33 +0000 UTCI feel like SSOSH 1 was fairly light on harem elements and it was awesome. As had been said though, you've built up a lot of trust with your readers, so we'll go anywhere you wanna take us :-)
2018-11-04 23:32:22 +0000 UTCI read your books because of the great story and awesome characters. Harem or no harem, I will buy your books.
2018-11-04 23:29:27 +0000 UTCAs long as the character interactions remain honest and interesting it's all good. Write what interests you, and we'll probably like it :)
Damian Paradis
2018-11-04 23:19:10 +0000 UTCWould read anything you write. So go for it. Give it a try if ur inspired.
Darwin Baide
2018-11-04 23:13:02 +0000 UTCI wouldn’t mind either just don’t make it a cheesy couple or romance
KATL-Chief
2018-11-04 23:12:49 +0000 UTCWhat I enjoy about your writing is the characters. The haram elements were fun, but I never saw them as a defining element of your writing. As long as the charcters have felt and personality, I’m certain your story will do just fine.
Dee
2018-11-04 23:08:55 +0000 UTCI'd say make it and give it a go! I'd love to see how you'd do it never seen you make a non harem yet XD
DJ Johnson
2018-11-04 23:08:15 +0000 UTCI would not be disappointed if you wrote a book (or books) without a harem.
2018-11-04 23:00:50 +0000 UTCI think it's the wrong question. The question should be " does _____ add to or detract from the story I'm telling?" If +, then do it. If -, then don't. If you do so, some readers will probably be less interested (but unwilling to admit in semi public forums), but you'll likely gain new readers who aren't into harems. The quality of the story will determine how that works out.
Tyler Jansen
2018-11-04 23:00:04 +0000 UTCI'd read it just please no love triangles.
Jared Newton
2018-11-04 22:57:15 +0000 UTCCurious how you'd write a book with romance elements replace the harem for romance ;P i wouldn't be disappointed it'd just be weird your the harem king after all! XD
DJ Johnson
2018-11-04 22:55:35 +0000 UTCHonestly I think even non harem with your style of works building and relationships would still be a great read.
2018-11-04 22:51:48 +0000 UTCWould depend on the premise/ story line more than anything. Harem is entertaining, but Im perfectly fine with plenty of non harem books as well. But mostly stick to scifi/ fantasy books.
Justin Cox
2018-11-04 22:49:22 +0000 UTCI would buy and read the book with or without a harem element. I buy your books for the excellent world building and creative ideas not for the harem elements :)
Lazy
2018-11-04 22:49:17 +0000 UTCThe harems are great and all but really I read your books for the great character development and stories. Do or don't just do whatever you think will make a good story, I've bought every book you've wrote so far and will continue to do so
Zachary Johnson
2018-11-04 22:44:41 +0000 UTCWrite what you want to write, I know that I will read it and enjoy it.
Kyle J Smith
2018-11-04 22:40:17 +0000 UTCDont treat Harem like a gimmick. There are a lot of books on Amazon that do this and they are almost universally bad or at best mediocre. Write a good story with compeling characters who are each complete individuals and you'll do fine. If some of those characters land in a harem or polyamorous relationship it should look and feel natural for those characters. Dont try to force it.
Jesse Birmingham
2018-11-04 22:39:19 +0000 UTCI’d be fine without a harem in stories. Honestly I feel like a lot of work I’ve read lately has them, and a recent litepg I read had a terribly written romance subplot so I am getting tired of it
Dion Crump
2018-11-04 22:38:56 +0000 UTCHonestly, the thing that drives me most to your writing is your wonderful characters, and how they interact with each other. Felicia is great in SS, and isn't part of the harem, but is a delight in almost every scene she's in. Dungeon Deposed doesn't really have a Harem to speak of(it's so not part of the story that it doesn't really have any place in it, just seemingly there to be there) and it's one of your strongest works.
Meia
2018-11-04 22:30:00 +0000 UTCNo I'd like to see what you will write
2018-11-04 22:29:10 +0000 UTCI really like harem works, but it's not like I'm completely fixated on them. So long as it's in the same kind of vein as your previous works otherwise, it wouldn't bother me too much. Just put more effort into the relationship the protag actually ends up with and make her worth giving up other women for.
DiabolicalGenius
2018-11-04 22:27:24 +0000 UTCI feel like every fantasy / sifi book thats come out recently has had a harem in it. A book with just a more normal boy meets monster girl or monster girl meets boy ect, relationship would be refreshing. Ill read what ever you write so I don't mind.
Carlos Torres
2018-11-04 22:27:12 +0000 UTCI would read anything you write, though I would be fairly disappointed if there was no romance at all. You write male/female interactions better than any author I have found.
2018-11-04 22:26:25 +0000 UTCFirst let me just say, "Hi relative!" Arendt and Arndt were the family names before we moved to the US of A.
William D. Arand
2018-11-04 22:25:55 +0000 UTCYes but I would still buy and read it

2018-11-04 22:25:00 +0000 UTCI am game. Wrote where the muse takes you.
Kevin McKinney
2018-11-04 22:24:19 +0000 UTCI wouldn't be. I like your writing, and usually I enjoy the scenes between the mc and a specific girl the most and kind of just ignore the other girls. There's lots more you can work with and I don't know if you mean just one girl or no romance but both have a lot you can explore.
Sean

2018-11-04 22:23:53 +0000 UTCNo I really like what you’ve done so far. I think you would write a great book within a harem. All that being said I NEED the next super sales book ASAP. 3 was awesome and I look forward to the next one.
2018-11-04 22:23:41 +0000 UTCNot at all, definitely go for it
Roman
2018-11-04 22:23:32 +0000 UTCI'd give it a read! What'd you have in mind?
Kawaru
2018-11-04 22:23:23 +0000 UTCI would definitely still want to read it. Harems are great, but not necessary to enjoy a great story.
LunarLilith
2018-11-04 22:23:09 +0000 UTCI think it’d be refreshing. I’d definitely read it!
