2025-11-19 05:31:06 +0000 UTCMan, I love this album to bits. I don't think I've ever had a band I like with a run of 3 absolute no-skip albums in a row, where they just get better and better. The period from Niche Syndrome via Zankyou Reference to Jinsei x Boku is my favourite OOR era, and which album I declare my absolute favourite depends on whichever I'm listening to at the time, LOL. I never knew there was an MV for Answer is Near, though it looks like I didn't miss much. I love the song though. I do love the MV for C.h.a.o.s.m.y.t.h. - everything is just perfect about this song, including the video. No Scared is on my (pretty extensive, I admit) list of songs I wish they'd bring back. I've seen quite a few people name Mr. Gendai Speaker as their favourite OOR song - I think this may well be the most underrated OOR deepcut. It's funny you said Pierce could have been a bit slower, because when they did it live, with Taka playing the piano and a string quartet, they did perform it slower , which completely transformed the song (IIRC, you have actually reacted to the live performance), and it's one example where I don't actually care for the album version, but the live version has become one of my favourite OOR ballads of all time. Kimishidai Ressha is a rare case study for insights into their songwriting progress, because there is actually a much earlier version, which they originally performed live (as an at the time unnamed song) during their 2009 Kanjo Effect album tour (it's on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_z_Jj-Md1M), before it finally appeared much polished and with slightly different lyrics two albums later. I think this is still the most favourite OOR singalong song among Japanese fans, and I always blast it loud when I want to cheer myself up. Can't wait for Jinsei x Boku. I think that one will be even more up your street.
