Short but sweet! Gotta leave them wanting more! 🙌

2013 is the year when Babymetal did a live house tour in Japan with their live Kami band all songs live. They called it 'training', because obviously playing with a live band is different. Later that year they performed at Loud Park, which I think is the first time Babymetal performed a metal festival, which is kind of a big deal. First ever act with an J-Pop idols background to perform at a metal festival I'm certain. And they were 15 and 14 when they did it. I don't know if that's a first, but it has to be up there if their was a list. I believe bassist BOH is the one linchpin of the Eastern Kami Band, because since he started (second ever Kami band performance ?) he probably missed only one show ? (opening for Metallica in South Korea in 2017). Well very few, that ones was memorable to me. It seems to me drummer Anthony Barone is also a linchpin member ? I don't think he has missed a show. I wonder because they are in the rhythm section that there is a special reason for it...? What I recommend is a reaction to a short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6na1f1Pftxo (probably not even Patreon). Which is Babymetal's first Summer Sonic in 2012 (and I believe festival in general, at least anything like a proper general or rock/metal music festival, they had performed at Tokyo Idol Festival, but that's a very specific audience). This was at the food court, from a later interview we've learned that the organizer of the festival is a friend of Kobametal and he had seen Babymetal perform at Rock-May-Kan, the 'first ever Babymetal show' and he loved it, he felt they belonged on the festival. I think it was the year before 'big sisters of Babymetal' electric J-pop act Perfume got to perform at the festival and it was a big deal, because 'idols' don't belong on a festival (with a rock origin). I think this might in part be because in Japan idols often don't perform perfectly, because part of the appeal is following how they grow. So if it's perfect performance, where else can you go ? But as we've seen from especially Babymetal (and probably Perfume at that time), if you start early you can see the literally grow and gain experience and it's still entertaining. And so in some sense they still have some of that 'idol aspect' in their performance, but without compromise. I believe adopting to different stages is actually something the girls are very much involved with. Sometimes adapting it based on photos of the stage. Only for the very large stages choreographer is involved in making changes to fit the stage.

That was such an incredible short set. Thank you for sharing this concert reaction. I must hunt down the Limited Edition BABYMETAL album to make sure this is in my collection of BABYMETAL concerts.
