That's amazing!

Jaron Geil

Interesting concept!

Jaron Geil

I definitely been getting suggestions for a lot of these! Thanks!

Jaron Geil

I will make a note to check out the guide! Thank you!

Jaron Geil

No doubt!

Jaron Geil

My favorite is when they still bring “Baby Bones” back in some way later on. E.g., In the crowd in Legend Metal Galaxy shows to hype up the crowd or as DJs st FOX_FEST 🤣👌

Ganimal

Thanks!

Ganimal

great list

Jim Nusbaum

Hey Len. Yeah I wasn't sure if Jaron was open to doing the guide. No big deal if he doesn't want to. Yeah I like the MyIndie guys a lot and thought they could use some support. I am trying to get themto do the guide also. But Jaron is a favorite so I wanted to support him too.

Jim Nusbaum

Geez, they were very good, very early. New album coming by the looks of it, and Congratulations Su-metal on being awarded Female Metal Vocalist of 2024, announced today. She crushed some very good singers in the vote. The next closest was some 20 percentage points behind her. Richly deserved.

Hey Jim, no, Jaron hasn't done the guide yet. I seem to remember him saying that he only wanted to do music videos, very early on (I could be wrong), but I agree, there could be some gaps in his knowledge that, going forward, could be helpful being filled. Perhaps there needs to be a combined effort to make that happen hahaha. By the way, I am surprised to see you here; I wouldn't have thought you couldn't afford the Patreon hurdle after all the money you spend on Buy Me A Coffee's for My Indie's channel. Thanks for that, by the way, it is great to see fans out helping expose quality reactors to the awesome machine of Babymetal.

If I recall correctly, roughly from Legend 1997 (Dec 2013) onwards, it’s been mostly Mikio, Takayoshi, and Leda switching out for two guitars, BOH on bass, and Hideki on drums.

On the show’s lore: The story is that the “Idol Industry” has been oppressing metal (broken drums/guitars). The cries of the metal-heads resulted in the “spirit of metal”, the FOX GOD to summon Babymetal into this world to lead the “Metal Resistance” to fight the evil Idols. They will do this by infiltrating the Idol Industry to fuse J-pop with metal. For the Encore: to assist Babymetal’s mission, the FOX GOD summoned the spirits / gods of guitar, bass, and drums in the form of the “Kami” (spirits/gods) band.

Hell yeah dude! Great of you to take it to the start! And yeah, I agree, while we all give Baby Bones flak, without them in the early days, the show would have felt a bit “flat”, with something amiss! Since you have the spreadsheet, you can react to all of their shows to your heart’s content 😆! With that said, I’ll list a few suggestions of “best” shows, important moments, and also to minimize too much repetition: Legend 1997: Su’s 16th birthday, and a marked improvement on production quality, with a few 1 off songs you won’t see anywhere else. Budokan 2014 - Black Night: Day-2 of the first major concert with Kami band for the full show. Day-1 (Red Night) was great too, but Yui had an accident (fell off stage) and was missing for half of Headbanger. MetRock 2015: One of THE best crowds at an early, but major day time outdoor festival in Japan. A shorter set (~40 mins). Wembley 2016: A few live debut songs, and an overall amazing show. The first major Arena show with non-Japanese crowd. Also, starting at this point forth, all “lore” segments were in English, or included English subtitles I believe. Tokyo Dome 2016 (both days): Babymetal’s most epic stage, and largest arena crowd of 55K sold out each night. All songs except From Dusk Till Dawn from both 1st and 2nd album are performed across the 2 days. Legend S (2017): Su’s 20th birthday show. 1st show without Yui, and last show with Mikio. Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 (both days): First show with the full 3rd album, and all 3 avengers and both Kami Bands present. Babymetal Begins - The Other One (2023, both days): This is the Pia Arena MM show, where Momo was announced as official 3rd after at the end of day 1. Also the first full show with all songs from the 4th album. Starting with this show, Kami West was the sole backing band. Legend MM 2024 (both days): Momo’s 21st BDay, and frankly, one of Babymetal’s best shows IMO. Also, you can truly see the improved confidence, chemistry, and synchronicity of the ladies and the Kami Band West after a full year+ of intense touring together as “the new” Babymetal. Return of Kami solos as well! These are strictly just my opinion of course. I’m sure others can chime in with their 2 cents as well! 🤘🦊

Ganimal

+ 1 to guide, it’s amazing, and you’ll be able to get a comprehensive background! Although, I’m sure you’ve gotten tons of info already between comments.

Ganimal

Jaron has anyone recommended you do the Babymetal guide yet? I don't see that you did it on youtube or patreon. You might find it interesting and kitsunes love to see people react to it. The best one is the "Not So Extensive Guide to Babymetal" from A Fox Song.

Jim Nusbaum

Yes. Leda Cygnus has played with them since the beginning and you have seen him in Rondo of Nightmare, Road of Resistance, and probably a bunch of others you have seen. He and Mikio used to switch out and after Mikio died Leda appeared even more often. I think his last show may have been Legend Metal Galaxy. Everyone else was this show only or maybe a couple other early ones.

Jim Nusbaum

And Babybones is hilarious

Jim Nusbaum

It's cool to see these and compare them to today. They were so good back then but they are so much better in so many ways now. Even so you could see the charisma already in all three of them.

Jim Nusbaum

Very impressive for sure!

Jaron Geil

Okay so very different line up. It harder to tell when they all have the same outfits and makeup.

Jaron Geil

Thanks for the suggestions! 🤘

Jaron Geil

Yeah I just didn’t turn the video down enough. I always do a sound test before recording. It’s tricky getting it dialed in perfectly, cause I don’t want my voice to be too loud that it sounds like I’m talking over the track. It’s easier with YouTube cause I can just leave the volume at the same level for most videos.

Jaron Geil

Leda did a bunch of concerts for them. The other guys didn't do more than a couple shows, maybe only this one. I'll have to watch D and Z again to see who played there.

Jim Nusbaum

I love the intro video for the Kami Band. I wonder what it must have felt like for the girls to play with a real band for the first time. I'm sure it was a very different and exciting experience. A little technical remark: You are a little hard to hear when talking over the music. Perhaps you can employ some sort of ducking filter or something?

MacTaipan

Yes the line up for the Kami Band this concert was different with only Leda being from the OG line up. I suggest you react to more Su Solos! No Rain No Rainbow or Amore are my favorites! Thanks for the long reaction 🙌

nayeli a

According to what I found, the Kami Band for this concert was: SHIN (Drums), RYO (Bass), Leda Cygnus (Guitar), SHIREN (Guitar)...........I know Leda went on to do several concerts, but the others I don't know how many more concerts they did for Babymetal. I'm still amazed at how much production value they put into the intro/outro videos, etc.

Such an amazing performance by these young ladies. Professionals at such a young age.
