Wielding the Ship-slicing Blade, Sun Cheng cleaved a Vehicon in two, the same one that had inflicted a massive gash on his thigh with a chain hammer.
With his left hand, Sun Cheng drew his Plasma Cannon, taking aim and firing at two nearby Vehicons.
Suddenly, a forceful blow struck him from behind, and an alert emanated from his Core.
Reacting instinctively, Sun Cheng spun around, swinging his Ship-slicing Blade in a sweeping arc. In an instant, he sent a Vehicon—who had stabbed a long blade into his back—flying.
"Master, it's time to retreat!"
For the third time, Swindle urged through the Communication Channel. He was standing about twenty meters away from Sun Cheng, back-to-back with the last four Decepticon warriors.
Around them lay the corpses of countless Decepticon warriors, Engineers, various Robots, and Decepticon Vehicons, easily numbering in the hundreds.
However, Swindle had managed to protect himself. Sun Cheng's gaze briefly lingered on Swindle's mechanical body, which bore dozens of non-fatal wounds, before shifting away.
"Hold on, reinforcements are on their way!"
Dispassionately rebuffing Swindle, Sun Cheng wasn't lying.
From the onset of the invasion, Base Two had begun mobilizing Decepticon warriors to provide support. Moreover, the Forerunners, who had undergone mechanical body modifications and were in the awakening phase, would also be notified to rush to Terindad Island once their new mechanical bodies were ready.
Not long ago, as he was preparing to bomb the island and evacuate, Sun Cheng received a response from the reinforcement troops dispatched by Base Two. They had arrived at the eastern coast of the Bar Nation and were expected to reach their location within a few minutes.
More importantly, Sun Cheng's determination to stand his ground was strengthened by the fact that Base Two's Satellite deployed in Outer Space had not detected a third wave of Decepticons.
Clearly, although Starscream's sudden attack was ruthless and indeed threatened Sun Cheng, the over 700 Vehicons could, at best, destroy his most vital sub-base.
But that was already a significant move!
During the previous war on the moon's far side, the Decepticon Vehicons Legion under Starscream's command, facing Optimus Prime's leading Autobot Major, had lost at most about a thousand.
Having assimilated Soundwave's memory data, and being Starscream's arch-nemesis, Sun Cheng immediately investigated how many Vehicons Starscream had cultivated during his over a century-long absence after arriving in the Solar System.
According to Soundwave's estimation, the number of Decepticon Vehicons in the Moon Base was around three thousand, unlikely to exceed four thousand. Given that the Moon is just a satellite with limited resources compared to a planet, this was a significant achievement. Starscream's commitments to finding Megatron, the All Spark, and more had also limited his ability to cultivate even more Vehicons on the Moon. Sending over 700 Vehicons against Sun Cheng was already a big move.
Thunder was not far from Sun Cheng either, but he was in a terrible state. Sparks continuously erupted from his chest, his mechanical body's front armor was shattered, and one of his arms was severed. Surrounding him were the last eight heavy combat Robots.
Surrounded by Decepticon Vehicons, Sun Cheng's eyes were icy cold.
The energy within his Spark was now less than 20% of what it had been at the start of the battle. Apart from the Plasma Cannon draining much of his energy, the constant use of energy for rapid healing of minor injuries to his mechanical body had also accelerated the depletion.
But it was all worth it!
"Only 73 Decepticon Vehicons left!"
The island's defense forces were all but wiped out, and Sun Cheng's personal Legion had been decimated.
The Long-Range Sniper Robots were nearly wiped out by the Decepticon Vehicons. In contrast, the Aerial Combat Robots, of which three to four dozen remained after their ammunition was depleted, were employed in dire straits. In the heat of battle, they were all activated with self-destruct mechanisms, used as bombs, taking a significant number of Vehicons with them.
Hynix had exhausted all his artillery and was ordered to retreat to the Antarctic waters.
Technical Engineers, who lack combat capabilities, have now been temporarily evacuated from Terindad Island to several nearby islands.
Swindle's face was dark and grim, clearly agitated. On multiple occasions, he considered fleeing. However, the chaos of the battlefield made escape challenging. Every time he distanced himself slightly from his allies, he found himself surrounded by a large number of Vehicons. If not for Thunder's timely rescue and Swindle's authority to command some of the heavy combat Robots, he would have been defeated long ago. Now, escaping seemed even more challenging.
"Damn it, am I going to fall here today?" Swindle thought, his face contorting in frustration.
The encirclement by the Vehicons began to tighten. These Vehicons, cultivated by Starscream, had their rationality specially suppressed, making them more aggressive and eager to fight. They were fearless in the face of death but lacked intelligence. Nevertheless, with so many of their companions killed, the Vehicons were starting to feel fear.
They were not Robots but Decepticons.
The most attention from the Vehicons was focused on Sun Cheng, who was identified as the most dangerous target. In reality, he was. Over a hundred Decepticon Vehicons had fallen at the hands of his private Legion. Even after his Legion was wiped out, Sun Cheng, wielding his Ship-slicing Blade and Plasma Cannon, took down over forty Vehicons.
With not a hint of fear on his face, Sun Cheng held his blade tightly, with his Plasma Cannon constantly adjusting its position, threatening the advancing Decepticon Vehicons.
The encirclement continued to shrink, forming a circle with a diameter of less than thirty meters.
Sun Cheng, Thunder, Swindle, and their group were tightly trapped within.
"We're done for!" Swindle growled resentfully, showing signs of fear, making the surrounding Vehicons more eager to pounce.
"Shut up!" Thunder shouted, stopping Swindle's rambling.
Indeed, the Vehicons could be fearless in battle, but they were not immune to fear. The reason they hadn't attacked after surrounding them was mainly due to the large number of Vehicons that Sun Cheng and his group had taken down earlier. The death of so many companions had instilled a sense of fear in them, leading to this temporary standoff. If there had been other senior Decepticons commanding nearby, they would have ordered an all-out attack. While Sun Cheng's group might have taken down another ten to twenty Vehicons, their fate would have been sealed.
Swindle glared at Thunder with resentment. He was somewhat fearful of Sun Cheng, but when Sun Cheng glanced at him, his eyes narrowed slightly.
"We can't delay with this timed bomb any longer. You had your chances, but if you don't cherish them..."
Suddenly, a peculiar feeling interrupted Sun Cheng's thoughts. He abruptly looked up to see a dozen missiles heading straight for the island, traveling at speeds exceeding Mach 5. The familiar pulse indicated they were Electromagnetic Pulse Missiles!
