Starscream finally convinced Onslaught to join forces in developing the [Fusion Leopard]!
He had played to Onslaught's nature perfectly, knowing full well that he was an ambitious Decepticon at heart.
However, it was Onslaught's severe personality flaws that had gradually marginalized him from the center of power within the Skytiger Legion during the Cybertron Civil War.
Onslaught was keenly aware of the formidable combat power of the giant Devastator. So, when Starscream offered to help him transform his vehicular team into a massive Devastator, promising not to contest for command, Onslaught found the proposal irresistible.
Even though Onslaught still harbored suspicions about Starscream's intentions, he increased his vigilance privately.
The lure of a giant Devastator was something he couldn't refuse.
Seeing Starscream concede and voluntarily agree to send over two more sets of materials, Onslaught knew when to take a win.
Starscream was right. The materials he obtained from him were more than enough to rebuild his vehicular team.
"I understand. I'll expedite the training of the vehicular team!" he assured.
Yet Starscream was not satisfied, pressing further, "Give me an exact timeline. When can we begin the trials?"
After a moment of silence, Onslaught replied, "In three Earth months!"
"Three Earth months, is it?"
Starscream was discontented. His subordinates left on Cybertron Planet had informed him that Shockwave had already embarked with the armies, with the vanguard units setting off earlier and expected to arrive on Earth in the coming months.
Not to mention his concerns that Soundwave might have laid some traps before his demise, assuming he hadn't completely died.
The mere fact that Shockwave's confidant, Astrotrain, had been compromised on Earth, coupled with the current predicament Megatron was in, forced Starscream to consider seriously whether he'd be settling accounts once Shockwave and the others reached the Solar System.
He needed more trump cards to ensure his safety and position.
However, after a moment of consideration, Starscream nodded in agreement.
"Three months it is, then. This is my final concession!"
He looked at Onslaught seriously, the crimson glow in his eyes so intense it almost seemed blinding.
"I understand!" Onslaught acknowledged, realizing this was Starscream's bottom line, and that reassembling his vehicular team loyal only to himself was indeed his aspiration.
Having gotten the answer he wanted, the stern expression on Starscream's face instantly vanished.
A sinister smirk once again spread across his face as he gazed at Onslaught, stirring the pot with ill-intent. "I've already agreed with Megatron. In ten days, we'll dispatch troops to wipe out Frenzy. Aren't you going to take action? After all, using your name, he's caused chaos everywhere over the past year, even collaborating with the Autobots!"
The mere mention of the Autobots inevitably ignited anger on Onslaught's face.
The Civil War between the Decepticons and Autobots had raged for millions of years, and the enmity between them was as deep as the ocean.
Initially, Onslaught's vehicular team suffered heavy losses in an ambush set by the Autobots. Apart from himself, who managed to escape due to his formidable strength, all others perished at the hands of the Autobots.
As for Onslaught's attitude towards the Autobots, it was the same as most Decepticons: nothing but hatred and revulsion.
Though Swindle had his memories altered due to Megatron's punishment for traitors, becoming a cloned warrior, and would continue to serve the Skytiger Legion even if he were to be sacrificed, the revival of the other members of the vehicular team depended on commander Onslaught.
Regarding his subordinates, Onslaught obviously was not very satisfied.
After the vehicular team was initially formed, the several unruly fellows had led to numerous failed missions because they defied his plans and orders.
Although Onslaught had no affection for his subordinates of yesteryears, he held great regard for his direct team, the War Chariot Squad.
As a perfectionist who revered intelligence and strategy, after the annihilation of the War Chariot Squad, Onslaught had considered more than once cultivating a few confidants who were utterly loyal to him and could flawlessly execute all his tactics.
When Starscream brought up Frenzy again, Onslaught furrowed his brows in thought.
He had learned quite a bit about Frenzy from Starscream's embellished stories, though the information had been distorted. Onslaught's understanding of Decepticons, with whom he had only fleeting encounters, was very limited.
Initially, he had helped Frenzy partly because he was short of hands and had designs on him. Moreover, Onslaught had realized that Frenzy was embroiled in the struggle between Soundwave and Starscream, prompting him to intervene and benefit from their dispute.
Thus, he showed a sliver of kindness, uncharacteristic of a high-ranking being, to the inconspicuous Decepticon.
However, plans cannot keep pace with changes. Even Onslaught hadn't anticipated that he would soon encounter the legendary Sacred artifact--[All Spark] of Cybertron Planet at Sector Seven. After coming into close contact with [All Spark], his body began showing signs of a breakthrough.
It wasn't long after that Starscream, in his endeavor to create the colossal Devastator--[Fusion Leopard], turned against Onslaught. In that battle, Onslaught had the upper hand and severely injured Starscream, but he wasn't sure he could finish him off.
After they each retreated, knowing Starscream's nature all too well, he decided to go into hibernation to expedite his advancement and become a true Leader-class warrior.
Shortly before Onslaught's hibernation, Frenzy unexpectedly reached out, offering to trade the memory chip he'd obtained from Autobot--Jazz. This inadvertent act reminded Onslaught, who had long harbored the idea of reconstructing the War Chariot Squad, of something significant.
Seeing it as an early investment, he gave Frenzy some Decepticon Engineers and equipment he deemed inferior, including a super Artificial Intelligence from the Cybertron civilization.
Unexpectedly, in less than two years, according to Starscream, Frenzy had made quite a name for himself, even teaming up with Autobots a few months ago to eliminate Onslaught's former boss--Soundwave.
"He's quite the interesting little fellow!"
Suppressing his disdain for Autobots quickly, Onslaught didn't take Starscream's words at face value. Swindle, from his War Chariot Squad, had been tragically deceived by Starscream.
With such a vivid example, it would be odd for Onslaught to easily trust him.
However, he was very interested in the current Frenzy and, after a brief thought, replied, "In the following period, I will focus on training the remaining members of the War Chariot Squad. I've already made it clear about Frenzy; he has no connection to me. You can deal with him as you please!"
Starscream was perhaps a test he had set for Frenzy. If Frenzy couldn't even pass this obstacle, it would be just as well not to see him in the future.
To Onslaught, Frenzy was merely an insignificant Decepticon he had met a few times and invested slightly in.
Starscream, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes slightly, the curve of his lips growing broader.
He suddenly looked forward to the day Onslaught would arrive on Earth and see the current Frenzy with his own eyes.
That is, assuming he could survive the impending punishment.
"No one can deceive Starscream, no one!"
With a crimson glint flickering in his eyes, Starscream decided this time he would show no mercy.
