When I finally returned to Base Number Two in Brazil, it had been half a month since my last departure.
While Hephaestus and the others continued to roam the South Pacific region in the Ghost, I, Sun Cheng, flew directly from Peru and Bolivia into Brazil. Shortly after entering the Amambai Mountains, I sensed a sweep of electromagnetic waves.
Just as I was puzzled, Forerunner quickly appeared in my field of vision.
"Master, welcome back..."
Seeing that it was Forerunner, my nerves, which had been tense for half a month, relaxed involuntarily.
I nodded in relief at Forerunner and said, "It seems that you haven't been idle while I was away. Well done. Have you installed surveillance systems around the base?"
"Yes, master. After you instructed Atlas and the others to manufacture several radiation spheres, I was inspired as well. Initially, I intended for Atlas and the team to create a few sets of radiation spheres with a broader scanning range and enhanced functionality. However, Atlas proposed a better solution. They modified an AN/TPS-59 ground-to-air surveillance radar. Its performance has been quite impressive..."
Suddenly, it struck me. I do recall having procured a batch of military equipment from the United States under the guise of a Brazilian arms trading company.
Back then, in order to avoid arousing suspicion, I purchased various items in addition to Hellfire missiles, including a set of AN/TPS-59 vehicle-mounted ground-to-air surveillance radar.
The AN/TPS-59 radar is a remarkable piece of technology. Manufactured by Lockheed Martin for the US Army, it utilizes active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology, operating in the L-band (1.215-1.400 GHz).
The radar performs rotations at a scanning frequency of 6 to 2 times per minute, providing a 360-degree coverage range. It can detect targets within a range of 10 to 740 kilometers, with a maximum detection altitude of 305 kilometers and a maximum detection elevation angle of 60 degrees.
To defend against electronic and kinetic attacks, the radar also incorporates frequency agility technology, enabling rapid changes in wireless frequencies. It is undoubtedly an exceptional vehicle-mounted ground-to-air surveillance radar.
However, US-manufactured products have always been quite expensive. There are comparable and more affordable European alternatives, as well as Russian and Chinese options. Apart from the US Army, only Egypt, Bahrain, and the Baodao region of China have made limited purchases.
Needless to say, after the engineers' modifications, the AN/TPS-59 ground-to-air surveillance radar deployed by Forerunner around Base Number Two must be even more superior.
Otherwise, it would have been impossible to immediately detect my Core function, which remains dormant.
I hold no dissatisfaction toward Atlas and the team for not designing and manufacturing a new radar system from scratch. Instead, their modification of the existing radar system aligns well with our current capabilities and resources.
Now that I have encountered Forerunner, I decided to halt and not proceed directly to the underground cave. Instead, I followed alongside Forerunner, leisurely making our way to the base along the mountain road.
As we passed a valley with excellent terrain, twenty kilometers from the base, I couldn't help but stop. My gaze lingered for a while on a small hydroelectric power station situated near the river below before continuing forward.
This small hydropower station that has been built is now the main source of energy for Base 2.
The engineers convert the electrical energy collected here into high-purity energy liquid or energy blocks following the Cybertron Planet standard using the "energy extraction and conversion device."
In contrast, the several sets of diesel generators in the base now function to supply power to various equipment within the base.
As more and more equipment is being installed in Base 2,
the daily power consumption has been increasing.
"Master... We have already selected a suitable location for the second group of small hydropower stations, and construction has begun. However, we still don't have any power generation equipment..."
"Understood, I will send it over in a while..."
In the Amambai Mountains, there are not many suitable locations for the construction of hydropower stations, and they face severe restrictions. At most, only a few small hydropower stations can be built.
Sun Cheng is aware of this, so in order to expedite development, he needs to seriously advance the contact between China and Russia that he mentioned earlier.
Thinking about this, he was about to inquire with Forerunner about the manufacturing of industrial robots in the base.
Unexpectedly, before he could speak, Forerunner suddenly seemed to recall something and said again, "By the way, master, seven days ago, a group of humans attempted to enter deep into the Amambai Mountains. After I conducted a close investigation, I confirmed that they were most likely a geological exploration team. In order to avoid drawing attention, I only released a lancehead viper into one of their tents, biting a person and forcing them to retreat!"
"A geological exploration team?"
Sun Cheng furrowed his brows slightly. If it was indeed a geological exploration team, they might be interested in the deep regions of the Amambai Mountains.
However, Forerunner's strategy surprised him, and after some thought, he nodded in approval and said, "Very well, let's handle them in the same way in the future. I entrust the security of the base to you. At the very least, ensure that humans cannot approach within a hundred kilometers of the base in the coming years!"
"Yes, Master!"
During their conversation, they quickly covered a distance of over ten kilometers along the mountain road.
Forerunner had evidently notified the base beforehand. When Sun Cheng and the others arrived outside the entrance to the underground cave, Atlas and Frenzy were already waiting there.
"Master, welcome back..."
"I'm back!"
Giving a slight nod, Sun Cheng took the lead and entered the underground cave.
After not seeing it for half a month, Base 2 was evidently showing some changes.
Industrial robots could be seen everywhere in the base.
Just on the way to the main hall, he noticed at least six industrial robots, busy installing power lines and surveillance devices on the walls.
"During this time, how many industrial robots have been manufactured?"
Sun Cheng couldn't help but ask Atlas and the others curiously.
"After the hydropower station was put into operation, energy began to accumulate. Recently, we have manufactured a total of 17 industrial robots. The reason why the efficiency has increased so much is that we have completed an automatic production line for industrial robot parts according to your requirements. In the case of sufficient materials and energy, we can produce at least seven industrial robots every day!"
This is already a very high efficiency. After all, the parts of industrial robots are not shoddy things. In order to make them move agilely, the engineers designed them completely according to human mechanics, from the legs to the arms and most parts of the body. They are all designed with extreme precision. Even the parts production line made by Atlas and the others can hardly further improve the efficiency.
