2024-05-03 04:58:35 +0000 UTCJust a little info on the Chinese / Mandarin pronunciation bit: the phonetic alphabet has separate consonant sounds for what is romanized to "zh", "z", and "j" All three of them sound somewhat similar so it is often easier for non-native speakers to kind of say them the same way which is close enough to understand Idk how to explain the different consonants lol, all of them happen with the front teeth closed -- "zh" has the sound more.... in the back of the mouth? The tongue curls back to create a rounder sound. "z" is more sharp? The sound is pushed through the front teeth and the tongue stays flat. "j" sounds pretty much like "j" in English, where the tongue taps the roof of the mouth.
