Seventeen In The Soop - Episode 2 [Season 2]

The conversation with Joshua & Seungkwan absolutely broke me, not going to lie. With the news of Moonbin this morning, I am already emotional as it is, so hearing that Seungkwan had really been struggling to the point that everyone around him was noticing..... ahhh it just really made me sad. Joshua is just the most beautiful friend. The way he waited until it was just the two of them, put his hand around him, stroked his head, and asked in the most comforting way "were you having a hard time? I know without you telling me. You can tell me whenever you're ready. But you don't even have to tell me". He so nicely opened up the space for Seungkwan to just let it all out and be heard, and Shua was there to embrace him with his entire being. The amount of love and gratitude that he showed Seungkwan was so genuine and just extremely important for Seungkwan to receive.

Whilst I understand Scoups comment of "I'm not going to be curious about the reason, i'm just going to leave him, it's that sort of season" (in regards to feeling burnt out), I just think it's more important to check in with each other instead of leaving it be. With a group like Seventeen, I guarantee all of the members know wholeheartedly that every single member is there for them whenever they want to open up. So by leaving them, they are giving them the space to be as they are and to be able to feel those emotions without pressuring them to act as they usually do. When I was having a hard time a couple of years ago (nothing serious, just a bit of stress), my best friend asked me "are you ok? you seem down lately" (keep in mind my best friend is also my boss - she owns the dance studio I work at and she said she had noticed in my classes that I wasn't my energetic self). Whilst I was grateful for her to be checking in with me, I actually don't share my issues with anyone until I am at a point where I think I need help or need some advice. I really don't like putting my issues onto others and I also don't like others trying to solve my problems unless I have asked them for guidance. But by her asking me this, I felt like I had to hide those feelings and do my best to act how I usually do at work.

This may be where Scoups mind was at - it's understandable for him to be getting burnt out right now, let's not pressure him, let him sit with these feelings and navigate his way through, and he will be there with open arms when he feels as though he is ready for help or advice from those around him.

HOWEVER, in light of the heartbreaking news we received today, I truly think that checking on their members is so extremely crucial. So many people try to deal with these inner demons by themselves and often don't want to open up because they don't want to pass that burden onto someone else. By keeping everything to themselves, it's often hard to think logically and can feel extremely overwhelming and suffocating to the point that they decide to make these irreversible choices.

I truly hope that Seungkwan is ok. He is surrounded by such a loving group of people and I really am so happy that Joshua gave him his shoulder to lean on.

What a beautiful episode. Sorry for my sobbing haha xx

Comments

It's okay to get emotional. When I watched this season of In the Soop, I also really enjoyed how it was more emotional that the last season. It was like there wasn't just taking a break but also being able to relieve their stress and negative emotions. Definitely agree with your comment about the different approaches between S.Coups and Joshua have with Seungkwan's stress. I think it is nice that we have different members who all have their own ways in which they care for each other.

In fact, S.Coups and Jeonghan are like the dad and mom of the group (they honestly remind me of Bang Chan and Lee Know). S.Coups - responsible and firm and at the same time meek as a lamb father / Jeonghan - warm-hearted and understanding and at the same time savage like a hell mother.
