Chapter 268: A House for Kaori and Kyoko

Kaori turned her face away, suspicion clearly etched on her expression. "... Where did you get the money to buy a house this big? Did the Sato family suddenly become so generous?" Kaori said with a sarcastic tone.

Haruto looked at Kaori calmly before responding, "I bought this house with my own earnings."

He then shifted his gaze to two figures emerging from inside the house.

"Who are they?" Kaori asked hesitantly, observing the silver-haired man and the pink-haired woman standing near the entrance.

Haruto pointed at them. "The silver-haired one is Kakashi, and the one next to Kakashi is Sakura. They work for me. If you need anything, just ask them. There are a few others who will help you later."

Kaori stared at the two with a flat expression, unaware that they were actually Haruto's Shadow Clones, placed there to guard the house and ensure the safety of Kaori and Kyoko.

Kaori looked back at the large house, her mind filled with confusion and disbelief.

"By the way," Haruto suddenly broke the silence, "who do you owe?"

Kaori froze for a moment before answering coldly, "Why do you want to know?"

"I just want to make amends for the mistakes I've made with you," Haruto replied straightforwardly. "I will pay off that debt."

Kaori glared at Haruto. "No need," she said tersely. However, deep down, Kaori simply didn't want to feel indebted to that man.

Haruto looked at Kaori calmly. "I just don't want Kyoko to suffer the consequences. If you're being chased because of your debt, it will affect Kyoko too."

Those words left Kaori silent. After a moment, she took a deep breath and finally said, "Lex Gramen. I owe that man. He is the boss of the loan shop on 65th Street, West District."

Haruto nodded, absorbing the information. "I understand. Just go inside. I'll take care of this," Haruto said with a slight smile, though his eyes conveyed seriousness.

Kaori simply stared at Haruto, saying nothing. Finally, she turned towards the house, taking Kyoko's hand. Meanwhile, Haruto stepped away with a steady stride, preparing to confront the man named Lex Gramen.

Kaori and Kyoko then stepped into the house. The building looked luxurious, with elegant interior design and modern furnishings that served various practical functions. The walls were adorned with paintings of natural landscapes, while the glossy ceramic floor provided a warm yet classy atmosphere.

It could be said that the entire house was arranged very well. Of course, this was thanks to Haruto's hard work, who had previously instructed various Shadow Clones to meticulously organize and decorate the house.

Initially, the house was prepared by Haruto to serve as a temporary residence in case of emergencies. However, Haruto never expected that one day this house would be inhabited by Kaori and her daughter, Kyoko.

Kaori and Kyoko followed Sakura and Kakashi up the stairs to the second floor. The place felt spacious, with two bedrooms lined up along the corridor, which was decorated with small minimalist pendant lights.

"The first floor has two rooms, and the second floor also has two rooms. However, please do not go to the third floor," Sakura explained in a soft yet firm voice.

Kaori listened attentively, absorbing every word that came from Sakura's mouth. As a guest, Kaori did not want to make any mistakes that could cause problems. Kyoko also watched with enthusiasm, although her gaze occasionally darted to the small details around her—the paintings on the walls, the sturdy wooden doors, and the simple ornaments that added to the beauty of the house.
