Chapter 263: The Story of Kaori 6

No one wanted to hire Kaori because of her condition. Every door she knocked on was met with rejection.

The cost of living in the Western District might not be as high as in the city center, but for Kaori, who had almost no money, everything felt like a massive wall that was hard to break through.

The money Kaori had was just the remnants of what Haruto had given her in the past, but it was dwindling. Kaori had to pay rent, cover daily needs, and face debt collectors who came almost every week.

Despite this, Kaori remained determined to survive. She had promised herself that she would not give up, especially for the child she was carrying.

A few months later, Kaori gave birth to a baby girl. That moment became a small light in the darkness of Kaori's life.

Even though Kaori's money was almost gone, she felt an indescribable happiness when she looked at her little daughter's face for the first time. The baby was the only reason Kaori continued to fight.

However, the struggle did not stop there. After giving birth, Kaori tried to find work again. Unfortunately, without connections and with her family's reputation now tarnished, no one was willing to accept Kaori.

Rejection after rejection left her feeling desperate, but Kaori kept trying, even as hope dwindled.

Kaori knew that the world was not on her side, but she also knew that she could not give up. With her little daughter in her arms, Kaori kept moving forward, hoping that one day, her life would change for the better.

In the end, no one wanted to hire Kaori. The money she had was running out, and debt collectors continued to come, knocking on her door with increasingly pressing threats.

The situation worsened when the money to pay for her rent was almost gone.

With no options left, Kaori was forced to leave her rented home. With a heavy heart, she took her still-infant daughter to the Southern District, a slum area known for its dangers.

Although the area was far from decent, it was the only place where Kaori could find housing that was still affordable.

The environment in the Southern District was much worse than Kaori had imagined. The narrow streets were filled with trash, unpleasant odors wafted through the air, and the sounds of occasional fights could be heard.

However, Kaori knew she had no other choice. She could only hold her daughter tightly, trying to protect the little girl from the harshness of the world around them.

Kaori's life changed slightly for the better when she met a kind-hearted woman. The woman, a long-time resident of the Southern District, felt pity for Kaori, who looked confused with her little baby in her arms.

The woman not only provided Kaori with a simple wooden shack for shelter but also offered her a job as a dishwasher in a small eatery in the area.

Kaori accepted the help with deep gratitude. The wooden shack might be small and shabby, but for Kaori, it was a refuge.

With the income from her job, Kaori could at least buy food for herself and her daughter. Although their life was far from comfortable, Kaori felt relieved that they could still survive.

However, the debt problem remained a heavy burden. Kaori knew that the debt collectors from the Western District were still looking for her, and because of that, she chose to remain hidden in the slum area.

Even though Kaori's heart was filled with guilt, she knew there was no other way to protect her daughter from that threat.

Years passed, and Kaori had settled in the Southern District. Their lives remained simple, sometimes very difficult, but Kaori did everything she could for her daughter.
