Chapter 261: The Story of Kaori 4

“No, Ma’am,” Kaori replied with a trembling voice, trying her hardest to maintain her composure despite her heart racing.

Hisami paused for a moment, deep in thought. Then, with an unchanged expression, Hisami continued, “Alright, I will give you money, but I want you to leave this place. I don’t want any rumors circulating that one of the servants from the Sato Family is pregnant without a clear father figure. Do you understand?”

Hisami's cold face seemed to carry an unspoken threat. Kaori felt cornered, with no other options. She could only lower her head, her anxious eyes meeting Hisami's sharp gaze.

“… I… I understand,” Kaori nodded quickly, her voice hoarse and barely audible.

After that meeting, Kaori left the Sato Family without revealing who the father of her child was. She chose to avoid Haruto, so the boy would not get involved in a bigger problem.

Kaori did not want Haruto to get entangled further with the cruel family. Moreover, she felt that her child should not be raised in an environment like the Sato Family, a place filled with cruelty and intrigue.

...

On the other hand, after Haruto learned that Kaori had been fired, his anger erupted. Haruto shouted loudly, his voice echoing in the large house. Without thinking twice, he quickly made his way to his mother’s room, Hisami. Haruto's breath was heavy, his heart filled with a mix of anger and anxiety.

Hisami was sitting gracefully in her chair, looking at Haruto with a cold gaze. There was even a hint of disgust on Hisami's face, as if Haruto's presence was an unwelcome distraction.

“What is it?” Hisami asked in a flat tone, though there was clearly impatience in her voice.

“Why did you fire that woman!” Haruto shouted, his face flushed with anger. His rage was so intense that his hands were clenched tightly, his nails almost piercing his palms. Haruto knew how dangerous this situation was. If his family, especially Hisami, found out that Kaori was pregnant with his child, everything would become problematic. Kaori could be in danger, and even the child she was carrying could be killed without mercy.

However, Haruto didn’t care. For him, justice for Kaori was more important than the fear that had haunted him for so long. Kaori was not just Haruto's personal servant; she was the woman carrying his child. This dismissal was an insult and a threat that could not be accepted.

“You don’t need to know,” Hisami replied sharply, her eyes looking at Haruto with disdain. “A useless and disgusting child like you should just be quiet. You mean nothing! If only you had been born with a little talent, maybe I could still tolerate your existence. But no! You were born without any ability, neither as Anomalies nor as Abnormals! You are just a disgrace to this family!”

Hisami's voice rose higher, echoing throughout the room. “You should just live your pathetic life, you useless child!”

Haruto stood his ground, his body trembling not from fear, but from uncontrollable anger. All this time, he had always bowed to his mother, fear and inferiority crushing his self-confidence. But this time was different. This time, there was something greater than that fear—an anger that burned, and a determination to protect Kaori and her child.

Meanwhile, Haruto gritted his teeth, trying to hold back the raging anger within him. His hands were clenched tightly, his fingernails turning white. However, Haruto knew that this explosive anger would not change anything. He understood that there was no point in fighting his mother in a situation like this.
