Chapter 254: Criegh and Cristine 2

This striking difference explained why Cristine was now in the Black Market alongside Criegh. Even though Criegh could have come alone, Cristine insisted on accompanying him.

This insistence left Criegh, who typically avoided arguments, unable to refuse his younger sister’s request. Cristine’s presence on this mission might not have been what Criegh desired, but he knew he couldn’t hold back someone as stubborn as Cristine.

Despite often disregarding orders from Arde, Cristine held immense respect for Criegh. Their bond as twins was exceptionally close, and Cristine always viewed Criegh as her role model. However, even so, Cristine often refused to follow Criegh’s instructions—just as she was doing now.

For some time, the two had been wandering through the Black Market, purchasing various explosives as ordered by Arde. The purpose of these purchases, while still a mystery to them, was carried out without question.

Arde, one of the Executives leading their group, was the only one who knew the true purpose behind these explosives. Neither Criegh nor Cristine, along with the four other captains under Arde’s command, knew what these items would be used for.

The only thing clear was that Arde had his reasons, reasons known only to himself. These reasons remained a mystery, and while Criegh felt uneasy about this lack of information, he knew there was no point in questioning his superior’s orders.

Cristine, however, driven by her intense curiosity, often asked questions, even though she knew such inquiries would not yield the answers she sought.

...

After a while of buying explosives and preparing to leave, Cristine suddenly stopped Criegh in his tracks.

“Wait...” Cristine’s voice was soft but firm, causing Criegh to pause and turn around.

“What is it?” Criegh asked, his expression calm and unbothered by the atmosphere around them.

“There are people watching us,” Cristine replied, her voice still low but this time more serious.

Although much younger than Criegh, Cristine had far more advanced abilities in the field of Aura Arts. Cristine had studied a wide range of Aura Arts, including Combat Arts, Weapon Arts, and even Mystic Arts.

One of Cristine’s most prominent abilities was a Mystic Art known as Enemy’s Eye. This art allowed Cristine to sense the gaze of anyone observing her. Not only that, but Cristine could also discern the direction from which those gazes were coming.

This ability had often helped Cristine and Criegh avoid danger. Many times, they had successfully escaped from their pursuers thanks to Cristine’s early detection of their presence. However, this time, Cristine was slightly taken aback. More than ten pairs of eyes were watching them from various angles.

“More than ten...” Cristine frowned, her eyes moving rapidly as if she were trying to count the number of people observing them. “And they’re all... in different places.”

Although Cristine could sense these gazes, she couldn’t determine exactly how far away they were. All she had was a rough estimate of their scattered locations. The tension in the air grew as Cristine realized that their watchers were farther away than she had initially thought. This added to her curiosity. What did they want?

Seeing the questioning expression on Cristine’s face, Criegh let out a tired sigh. He knew his sister wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it.

“In that case, let’s leave quickly. We’ve bought the last of the explosives. There’s almost nothing left in the Black Market anymore...”
