F/VoH Ch 131: Just Need to Ensure
Added 2024-11-21 12:32:48 +0000 UTCIn an instant, an arrow shot out from the darkness, piercing the soldier's head and ending his life in a matter of seconds. His body collapsed, making a sound like cracking ice that shattered the silence of the night.
Screams began to spread like a plague.
"No! I don't want to die!"
"Spare me! Please! Don't kill me! I still want to live!"
"Whoever you are! We surrender! Please stop this!"
Captain Ravis looked at his troops with eyes full of anger and disappointment. His soldiers, whom he had always prided himself on as an elite force, had now turned into a group of desperate humans. They cried, knelt, and begged the enemy that was even invisible.
"No! No! Spare us!"
However, their pleas were met only with silence. A chilling silence.
One by one, their bodies began to freeze, followed by arrows that flew quickly and accurately. Each arrow brought death. The bodies exploded into sparkling shards of ice under the moonlight, like a tragic irony of beauty amidst destruction.
"DAMN IT!" Ravis swung his sword to the ground in frustration, splitting a small stone beneath. "Do you all want to die like cowards? Stand and fight, you useless bunch of bastards!"
Yet, Ravis's voice was drowned out by the desperate screams of his soldiers. They could no longer hear Ravis. Fear had completely overtaken them, robbing them of their courage and honor as the forces of the Kingdom of Polons.
Ravis could only watch. The army he had led for several years was now falling one by one, destroyed by an enemy that had yet to reveal itself.
And in the distance, Ryan watched with a cold gaze. Ryan observed the destruction without emotion. Beside Ryan, Arash smiled faintly, bow in hand.
"It seems they are almost finished, Master," Arash whispered as he pulled the bowstring back once more.
Ryan merely nodded slowly, his eyes fixed on the battlefield. "Break their morale first. Let fear do the work for us."
And the assault continued, bringing silence and destruction to a night that should have been filled only with the rustle of wind and the whisper of leaves in the Cursed Territory.
In an instant, the number of troops that originally numbered two hundred began to dwindle drastically. Now, only a handful of soldiers remained. Although they were all at Level F, with adequate basic training, they still could not mount any meaningful resistance.
Amidst the panic, the sounds of screams and the explosions of ice filled the air. Even Captain Ravis, the leader of the troops at Level E+, could not control the situation. Ravis spun around in panic, trying to catch a glimpse of the enemy amidst the darkness and the cold wind. But the effort was in vain.
The arrows continued to come from various directions, as if the enemy were toying with them. The ongoing chaos, combined with the sound of ice shattering repeatedly as soldiers' bodies exploded, caused Captain Ravis to lose focus. There was no way to determine the exact direction of the attacks.
This force was sent on a testing mission. Initially, one hundred ninety-nine Level F soldiers were deployed to assess the capabilities and level of the figure suspected to be the Leader of the Rebel Army. Captain Ravis's presence as a leader, with Level E+, was supposed to guarantee an analysis of the threat. However, no one expected that they would face such a strange and brutal attack.
"We just need to ensure," Captain Ravis murmured softly to himself, his gaze drifting to the remaining soldiers. "Just to see if it really is the Leader of the Rebel Army..." Ravis's voice was filled with a faint regret.
However, reality had shattered their initial plans. The decision to send only Level F troops with a Level E+ leader now felt like a fatal mistake. No one had anticipated that the attack in the Cursed Territory would bring total destruction.
