F/VoH Ch 130: Ravis
Added 2024-11-17 12:40:50 +0000 UTCOne by one, arrows struck the body of the frozen soldier. The frozen bodies were not only wounded but exploded into sharp shards of ice, creating a horrifying scene of blood and ice fragments mixed together.
"Incoming attack! Prepare to defend!" Ravis shouted as he drew his sword. Ravis's eyes were sharp, scanning the area for signs of the enemy.
However, nothing was visible. Only the shadows of the trees arched like claws under the moonlight.
"Ahk!" Another scream was heard. A soldier on the left side of the formation suddenly froze. Ice began to envelop his body from his feet to his head. It didn't take long for another arrow to shoot out from the darkness and shatter his body into various pieces.
"Damn it! Watch where the arrows are coming from!" Ravis shouted while shielding the front of his body with his shield. "Avoid those arrows!"
"But, Sir!" a soldier cried out in panic. "They froze first! There's no way they could dodge!"
"Then protect those who are starting to freeze! Don't let them get hit by the next arrow!" Ravis gritted his teeth, frustrated with the increasingly uncontrollable situation.
His soldiers tried to follow the orders. They ran towards their comrades who were beginning to freeze, trying to cover the bodies that were being overtaken by ice. But all of it was in vain.
Every time one arrow was successfully blocked, two more appeared from the opposite direction. Attacks came from all directions—unseen corners, as if the enemy were the shadows themselves.
"What is this?! Are they using magic?!" shouted one of the soldiers with a trembling voice.
Ravis did not answer. His eyes continued to observe, but he knew this was more than just ordinary magic. The ice enveloping the soldiers was not a natural phenomenon. It was a planned, deadly, and unavoidable power.
The arrows continued to rain down on them. Each explosion of a frozen body brought more fear. The sound of shattering ice, panicked screams, and the clanging of metal hitting the ground created a perfect symphony of chaos.
The once-solid formation of the troops was now in disarray. The soldiers lost coordination, fear taking over them. Every eye darted in every direction, searching for the unseen enemy, but only finding dark shadows that continued to mock them from the darkness.
Captain Ravis gripped his sword tightly, sweating cold. "Damn it..." Ravis muttered. "Who are we really fighting?"
"Damn it! Use your Skills!" The leader of the troops, Captain Ravis, roared angrily. Ravis's voice echoed amidst the chaos. "Hey! Why are you all panicking like that?! You are soldiers of the Kingdom of Polons! The best troops in the entire kingdom!"
However, despite Ravis's loud voice, no one dared to move. Fear had gripped their hearts.
Suddenly, a gleaming arrow shot out from the darkness, approaching Captain Ravis with deadly speed. Ravis's reflexes were quick; he dodged to the side. But the arrow turned sharply—as if it had a will of its own—and pierced the head of a soldier behind him. Blood sprayed, and the soldier's body fell with a heavy thud.
"Ahhh!" A panicked scream erupted from the ranks of the troops.
Captain Ravis gritted his teeth, his face flushed with anger and pressure. "Damn it!" Ravis raised his sword into the air. "Use all the Skills you have! Don't just stand there like a bunch of damn idiots! Do you want to die like livestock?!"
However, Ravis's shout changed nothing. The soldiers stood frozen, their bodies trembling. Their wide eyes radiated deep fear. The ice that suddenly wrapped around their comrades, followed by the deadly arrows, had paralyzed their minds. They no longer acted like trained soldiers—they were just ordinary humans afraid of death.
"No—No! I don't want to die!" One soldier suddenly screamed, throwing down his sword and running away from the ranks. His steps barely reached a few meters before his body froze in place.
