On straight lines: basketball courts are straight. However, if you walk from one goal to the other and keep going for 25,000 miles you might (assuming you don’t die of exposure or get eaten by a shark) reach the other goal. WOW! What is a basketball court? 250 feet? The curvature of the planet is a rounding error on a rounding error when you build a ball court or a football stadium. Is there some evidence of a curved planet in a major city or a body of water? Yes! Some degree of altitude variation is detectable at several miles due to the Earth being curved. But the lines are still straight! It just wiggles a bit somewhere, there are hills, valleys, rivers, mountains, etc. It all averages out to be a curved sphere, despite there being basketball courts that are really, really, really straight.

2025-04-23 12:51:46 +0000 UTCI knew Terrence Howard was a bit of a wack job, but only anecdotally. It's weird, now that I'm listening to his actual words, I feel sweaty. Like his words are the sound of twitchy flop sweat.
