F/VoH Ch 95: Second Servant

The slums of Bertord City were clearly visible from a distance, marked by numerous small campfires scattered here and there. The homeless, beggars, and poor residents gathered around the fires to warm themselves against the cold of the night. Unlike other areas of the city that had simple heaters, in the slums, the campfires were the only source of warmth.

Ryan jumped down, skillfully sneaking through the narrow alleys. The light from the campfires illuminated tired and ragged faces, but no one noticed his presence.

Ryan moved toward a more secluded corner until he finally found an old, abandoned building. The building appeared empty and far from the crowds, a perfect place to execute his next plan.

After carefully checking every corner of the building, ensuring no one else was around, Ryan felt confident that this was a safe place. He stood in the dark and quiet room, accompanied only by the sound of the wind rustling through the gaps in the decaying wooden walls.

With a simple motion, Ryan opened the System in front of him. A glowing screen appeared before Ryan, displaying the available summoning options.

After reviewing the available options, Ryan took a deep breath. He knew that with the points he currently had, his only choice was the Common Summoning.

Although Ryan hoped to gather more points for a stronger summoning, time was not on his side. He needed an additional Servant tonight, regardless of how weak or disadvantageous it might be.

Without hesitation, Ryan focused on the Common Summoning option and said firmly, “Use.”

In an instant, the system screen flickered, and a magic circle began to form on the floor. The initially dim light started to emit a stronger glow, creating an intricate magical pattern. The atmosphere inside the building suddenly changed, as if the entire space was filled with an invisible power.

Suddenly, a pillar of light shot upward, towering high and illuminating the entire room. A strong vibration of energy filled the air, causing Ryan to brace himself. In the midst of the pillar of light, a faint shadow began to emerge, gradually taking the shape of a more defined human figure.

Ryan held his breath. He didn’t know who would appear, but he hoped it wouldn’t be a Berserker class. He needed someone who could move quickly and quietly, someone who could assist him in tonight's reconnaissance mission.

As the light began to fade, the summoned Servant slowly emerged from behind the glow. Did Ryan get another Assassin as he hoped, or perhaps a Rider or Archer that he also needed?

Ryan stared in anticipation, waiting for the figure to reveal its identity behind the light...

Just as the bright light disappeared, the figure of a man appeared in the midst of the remaining thin mist, as if formed from the darkness itself. The man had short, messy black hair, giving the impression that he was a soldier who had been through many battles.

The man’s black eyes looked sharp, full of vigilance and experience. He wore a dark green protective outfit that appeared worn but still sturdy. A simple brown leather belt wrapped around his waist, holding a short sword tucked at his hip.

On the man’s shoulder and chest, metal armor glimmered faintly in the light, adding to the impression of a veteran soldier ready to fight at any moment. The brownish arm guards of the man extended from his wrists to his elbows, protecting the parts of his body often used in close combat.
