Emilia jolted awake to the sharp, searing pain of her hair being yanked. Her scream echoed off the stone walls as she was forcefully dragged out of her cage. Disoriented and groggy, she blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of her surroundings.
As her vision cleared, she expected to see Liston, the cruel enchanter who had broken Aria yesterday. Instead, her eyes locked onto a familiar figure standing in the room. Clad in gleaming, ornate armor adorned with sigils of his guild, a man with a sinister grin watched her struggle. It was Guild Leader Seraphis, one of the council members who had been present at the meeting in the Grand Citadel.
Seraphis's smile widened as he took in Emilia's disheveled appearance. His cold blue eyes glittered with malice beneath his dark brows, and his chiseled features seemed almost predatory under the torchlight. The sight of him stirred a flicker of hope within Emilia's chest.
"Seraphis!" she cried out, her voice hoarse yet filled with relief. "Thank the stars! I knew you'd come for me!"
She strained against the guard's grip, reaching out toward Seraphis with desperation. For a brief moment, hope surged through her veins like wildfire.
But Seraphis's grin didn't waver; it only grew more twisted. He stepped closer, his armor clinking with each measured step. The guard holding Emilia tightened his grip on her hair, pulling harder and causing her to wince in pain.
The realization hit Emilia like a punch to the gut. Seraphis wasn't here to save her. The dark enchanter guard's unyielding hold on her hair was proof enough.
Her heart sank as Seraphis spoke, his voice dripping with false sympathy. "Oh, Emilia," he said smoothly, "I'm afraid your suffering is far from over."
Her eyes widened in horror as she fully grasped the betrayal. Seraphis was complicit in her torment, if not orchestrating it himself.
The guard twisted his grip cruelly, and Emilia let out another anguished scream. She could feel the despair creeping in as Seraphis watched with amusement.
"Welcome to your new reality," Seraphis said softly, relishing every moment of her agony.
Emilia's hope shattered like glass against stone, leaving only shards of fear and helplessness behind.
Seraphis knelt beside Emilia, his face inches from hers. "You really thought you were indispensable, didn't you?" he sneered. "Killing the Abyssal Behemoth was the last straw. The Dark One was furious, so much so that she killed Lord Draven herself."
Emilia's eyes widened. "Draven... dead?"
"Yes," Seraphis confirmed with a twisted smile. "She didn't take kindly to our failure in controlling you. And we couldn't afford to have you running around, disrupting our plans any longer."
"But why?" Emilia choked out, struggling against the guard's grip.
Seraphis straightened up, crossing his arms. "The Dark One has been generous to us, gifting us power and wealth beyond measure. In return, we allow him to slowly corrupt Luminas from within. It's a symbiotic relationship, you see."
Emilia's mind raced, piecing together the dark puzzle. "You're all in league with her... the council... you've betrayed Eldoria."
Seraphis chuckled darkly. "Betrayal is such a harsh word. We prefer to think of it as... strategic alignment. When you killed that corrupted dragon, it threw everything into disarray. We were at a loss on how to deal with you."
He paused, savoring her despair before continuing. "But fortune smiled upon us when those dark enchanters captured you. Now we have the perfect solution."
Emilia's heart sank as she struggled to comprehend her fate.
"Your days as the most powerful mage in Eldoria are over," Seraphis said coldly. "From now on, you'll live what remains of your soon-to-be short life as a sex slave—broken and beaten into submission."
His words hung heavy in the air, each one a nail driven into the coffin of her hopes and dreams.
Emilia's face twisted in defiance, and she spat at Seraphis, her spit landing squarely on his cheek. Her last act of courage. The room fell silent for a heartbeat, then Seraphis's face contorted with rage.
"Stupid girl," he growled.
He swung his fist, smashing it into her face. Her nose crunched under the impact, spraying blood across the stone floor. Emilia went limp, her vision swimming as she became dead weight in the guard's grip. He held her up by her hair, forcing her up on her knees.
"Hold her up," Seraphis commanded the guard. "I'm going to sample what the dark enchanters will get to enjoy."
Seraphis's voice dripped with malice as he leaned closer to Emilia, who could barely keep her eyes open through the pain. "I've always wanted to shut that pretty mouth of yours," he hissed. "And now my cock is going to do the job."
Tears welled up in Emilia's eyes. "Please... don't," she whispered, her voice cracking.
Seraphis laughed, a cold, heartless sound that echoed in the chamber. He pulled out a knife and held it to her face, the point pressing against her eyeball.
"If you refuse," he said calmly, "I'll cut your eye out."
Emilia whimpered, her tears mixing with the blood on her face. She watched helplessly as Seraphis began to remove his armor piece by piece, savoring every moment of her fear.
Suddenly, a loud crash reverberated through the chamber. Seraphis's head snapped up in alarm just as a sword sliced through his neck. His severed head rolled along the floor, his body crumpling beside it.
The guard holding Emilia didn't have time to react before a sword plunged through his chest from behind. He gasped and collapsed, releasing his grip on Emilia.
As the bodies fell around her, Emilia looked up through blurred vision and saw Andar standing over her with a sword in hand. His deep blue eyes were filled with determination and fury.
"Lady Emilia," he said softly, extending his hand toward her.
With trembling hands, she reached out and grasped his, holding on tightly as if it were the only solid thing in a world that had gone mad.
