Ginny is considered by most fans as the favorite final girl of the franchise not because she fights back but she actually uses her brain. The setting up of her being a child psychology major wasn't just a throwaway line, it established how she will (almost) outwit Jason near the end of the movie and her character gets a lot of praise for being someone who is able to judge Jason at this point thru psychology. (And if you were wondering why she didn't use the chainsaw on him more she got him in the arm and the chain locked up) Then you have the mystery of Muffin. If that was Muffin at the end then what the heck was with the look-a-like dog that Sandra and Jeff find? Personally I think they shouldn't have included that scene with them finding the "dog" because it makes for a better payoff for Muffin to appear at the end. Lastly, the mystery of PAUL!!!......What happened to him at the end? No clear answer has ever been given in the 44 years since this movie came out. His character is just written out of the movie leaving his fate ambiguous. There has been a lot of fan speculation over the years that he was actually killed when he and Jason fight in the main cabin and his appearance at the end was just a hallucination by a traumatized Ginny, hence the reason she was calling for him in the ambulance.
