We understand that JK Rowling’s public statements have caused real harm and disappointment, particularly to the LGBTQ+ community. Like we’ve done in the past with films tied to problematic directors or actors, our intention is to separate the work from the individual. We want to celebrate the impact of this franchise while not endorsing the personal views of the author. We know Harry Potter holds a lot of nostalgia and meaning for many, but we want to approach it with respect and awareness. Like we’ve discussed many times on Patreon, we want to foster an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome and feels comfortable discussing films.
We’ve decided to turn off comments on this post as we could see arguments starting to brew. Our goal is to keep this space respectful for everyone and conversation focused on discussing movies and television.
