LETS GOOOO. We are going through it fr. Eliana is definitely still trying to listen to her grandma's words and be as distant as possible while being right next to the situation her grandma told her to completely avoid. Eliana doesn't wanna put too much hope in Marco, so him being there for her feels a bit BAD to her. She doesn't want Marco to put too much time and effort into her because she doesn't want to also put too much of a burden on him, because that's what she feels like.

Eliana doesn't feel like she deserves friends right now, extrinsically, she's still trying her best to do what she wants and have fun with it but it's hurting her a little to be going against her grandma's words, even if she's old enough to make her own decisions. But because Eliana also knows she won't always have her grandma; she hates to admit it, but she's preparing herself for a world where she (as she feels) has complete freedom of her own being and choices. It's hard for Eliana to "disrespect" her grandma's words and the way grandma thinks because Rocio is the only family member Eliana really has and the thought of her grandma dying one day is enough for Eliana to be scared of her own rights and entitlements. She loves her grandma to the earths end and will do whatever she can to know her grandma is doing well, and to go against her grandma's ways, feels like she's going to sever that connection.

I feel like I worded that weird, so, sorry if it's hard to understand! I hope you at least get the gist of it though. It's sort of hard to explain fr, but it's something I personally also deal with, with my own mom at times. Especially as a high schooler, these sort of statements and mindsets kinda threw me for a loop and it was difficult to deal with at times, and I just hope I can convey it properly without anyone looking like a complete villain.
