(I am copying and pasting from the description)
"I like to put all my anger and hate in this character, he upsets me. I wrote an AU where he wasn’t an asshole entirely and ended up dating a dude named Ollie Moris Jenkins, but it is not canon and I shall cry about it, bc Clay is as straight as they come and just a straight up asshole who won’t be redeemed In the official comic, nor does he even have much of a part In It anyway. I just find his story Interesting to share and tell and I wanted to do a video upon It, not to redeem him In any way, but to get a look Into his story. If you like his character design or If you enjoy how his story Is written, that Is cool with me, just understand that he should never be forgiven for the acts he attempted/ committed.
TW: Abuse/SA/Drug/Alcohol Abuse
Clay Lee Francis is a High School Senior at the age of 17 during the time his story takes place. He grew up in a rich household with verbally and physically abusive and neglectful parents. He has a hard time grasping the concept of caring for anyone but himself, as the only resources of affection he got from his parents was money: money used to “better” himself. This leads him to make bad choices in friends, situations, etc. Abusing drugs and alcohol as escapism and puts all his rage into his schools American Football team (And now that I write out a synopsis of his character, I cannot help but think of Nate Jacobs and I am SOBBING—in the laughing at the accidental correlations to their characters.)
I can understand if this is the side of him you relate to, being in an abusive household and making poor decisions when it comes to drugs and alcohol abuse, but the following is not something you or anyone should condone; but get help for Both if you feel that any of these are true.
He’s had multiple girlfriends and has never treated them right, being neglectful. Later, learning to bribe and guilt trip them into staying with him, and later on learning he can get them to do “favors” for him. All inevitably leaving him, but as timid angsty high school kids, can’t bring themselves to talk to each other. Until he meets Amelia. They date for a little while, and during a Valentines Dance at their school, Clay gets hammered after being yelled at by his parents and is full of drunken rage. This does not excuse his behavior, he still chose to do everything he’s done. But he stumbles into the dance and finds Amelia, she begs him to calm down but he doesn’t, dancing with other girls and upsetting Amelia further. He comes back to Amelia to apologize and butchers it and he tries and drags her away, this is taken notice of by other students, Eliana, Marco, and Levi (Amelia’s Ex Boyfriend), and they follow her. Clay attempts to assault Amelia In the gym’s storage closet, but Eliana breaks it up and pulls Amelia away while Levi impulsively attacks Clay, Clay escaping but Levi catches up and nearly beats him to death until Marco is able to stop him and get him away. Clay has nowhere to go but home.
Later on in life, in his possible late 20’s, he understands where he went wrong, and how he should have acted better, but does nothing to better himself as he is unsatisfied with life and tired of replaying his own mistakes in his head, and inevitably drinks himself to death.
I “spoil” all this because his story would never actually show in the comic and I thought it’d be an interesting story to tell, and i was inspired to make a video because the audio is phenomenal 👌💖
I personally enjoy reading over the complications of his character and understanding why he would do whatever he did, though still not condoning his behavior, as I am a person who is always really interested in the psychological developments of people and their decision making. I’ve been binge watching a lot of true crime recently tbh, it’s crazy what humans are capable of. So please, take care of yourself and take care of others, report any problems, and never feel scared or embarrassed to ask for help. You are deserving of a better life and getting help."
TBH, I'm not sure if I'll still be able to go along with playing his story into the comic because of WEBTOON regulations, AND because I just might genuinely change it. I just wanted to share the "old" version with y'all's in case of youz ever wanting to know the process of brainstorming/lore.
