2024-12-27 22:31:41 +0000 UTCMy #1 pick is Witness (IMHO Harrison Ford's best film), but I love that you put so many pre-1980 films in the mix (even if they aren't getting tons of votes).
Dan McComb
2024-12-10 19:51:38 +0000 UTCWow...all decent choices and tough to decide. Whatever wins, you guys will rock it
ron clint
2024-12-03 13:08:19 +0000 UTCFor future consideration, To Live and Die in L.A. (1985), but it’s more a Secret Service story than detective, although they are tracking down counterfeit money. Great cast and a great story.
David Wilkins
2024-12-01 16:21:42 +0000 UTCI like "The Game" a ton. I think it's funny it's in a detective poll.

2024-12-01 09:18:34 +0000 UTCHell or High Water (2016) Bullitt (1968) The Hidden (1987)

2024-12-01 01:03:46 +0000 UTCI love Michael Douglas, and they still have a lot of his best films to watch! The Game is my favourite. But I also would love to see reactions to The War of the Roses, Fatal Attraction, Wall Street, Basic Instinct, and many more!
Future Boy
2024-11-30 10:54:44 +0000 UTCPerhaps The Name of the Rose (1986) with Sean Connery?
Michael SCH
2024-11-30 04:56:20 +0000 UTCYeah, I consider myself very Altman-positive and even I'm kinda lukewarm on McCabe.
Paul Cox
2024-11-29 15:51:19 +0000 UTCMy Favorite Poll, so many Great Films ...But Guys "The Game" is sooo good... Michael Douglas is my favorite Actor
Florian Meier
2024-11-29 09:34:02 +0000 UTCThe only reason I didn't vote for Blue Velvet is that I don't think of it as a straight detective movie. Nevertheless, it's a superb movie, and you should definitely watch it (and make a reaction video for it).
Michael Buhl
2024-11-29 05:28:01 +0000 UTCDead Again is a fantastic who dunnit. Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Robin Williams... one of my all-time favorite films.

2024-11-29 03:27:17 +0000 UTCAngel Heart! Fantastic
Daniel N
2024-11-29 02:39:44 +0000 UTCAfter Young Guns destroyed some of the greatest westerns of all time in a poll, I don't share your optimism:) Silverado would handily beat McCabe in a poll, I'm sure.
Birdie Num Num
2024-11-29 02:20:52 +0000 UTCPlease do check out “In the Name of the Father” with Daniel Day-Lewis (1993)
Daniel N
2024-11-29 01:04:30 +0000 UTCOddly enough, David Fincher isn’t very proud of it I’ve heard.
Daniel N
2024-11-29 01:02:41 +0000 UTCThe Game is a cool flick tho I'd categorize it as Mystery/Suspense
Ken Veader
2024-11-29 00:24:11 +0000 UTCI could see (and hope) McCabe & Mrs. Miller winning a Western poll
Ken Veader
2024-11-29 00:21:10 +0000 UTCThe Game is amazing. Still holds up.
Han
2024-11-28 23:37:00 +0000 UTCThe Game is a David Fincher masterpiece! I hope it wins.
Matt C
2024-11-28 21:26:18 +0000 UTCMy favorite modern actor. 😞 Announced his retirement after the current batch of movies in the pipeline.
Athos Count de la Fère
2024-11-28 21:01:15 +0000 UTCHah! 😂
Athos Count de la Fère
2024-11-28 20:59:23 +0000 UTC"Witness" is my favorite Harrison Ford movie.
Athos Count de la Fère
2024-11-28 20:58:27 +0000 UTCLet's stay on the Harrison Ford train. "Witness"
Athos Count de la Fère
2024-11-28 20:55:19 +0000 UTCThe I almost picked all of them. BLUE VELVET will make the best reaction methinks.
Antmovies
2024-11-28 20:22:50 +0000 UTCNo love for The Long Goodbye? Guess 3 Women may remain the only Altman film reacted to, its hard to see any of his films winning a poll.
Birdie Num Num
2024-11-28 20:10:53 +0000 UTCIt's shame, but most here probably haven't seen it.
Birdie Num Num
2024-11-28 19:59:33 +0000 UTCGo Classics!, The Thin Man, Orient Express and The Big Sleep for starters!!
Keith Brown
2024-11-28 19:49:27 +0000 UTCAnother detective movie is Night Moves. Sadly overlooked.
John Fitzpatrick
2024-11-28 19:42:32 +0000 UTCI fucking love this Film!!! Really hope it wins
Florian Meier
2024-11-28 19:26:19 +0000 UTCThe Game, all the way. There are few here that I would cut, then add Angel Heart (with Mickey Rourke).
Michael Figueroa
2024-11-28 19:25:32 +0000 UTCIn the heat of he night and The Game!!
James
2024-11-28 19:14:15 +0000 UTCBoth Letterboxd and IMDb have really good genre collections (though neither has one specifically for detective films—some users have made their own lists), but going forward either one of those options would be far more likely to produce better polls and better winners than just a basic Google search.
Paul Cox
2024-11-28 19:08:51 +0000 UTCSo is there an alternative to always just using google to come up with polls? I've lost track of how many times you and Daniel laugh after doing a reaction and say "this wasn't a comedy etc." So clearly you also see the flaws in google. Isn't imdb a better place for determining genre etc?
Birdie Num Num
2024-11-28 19:05:56 +0000 UTCYeah, if/when The Game wins this poll in a few weeks, they shouldn't even mention the genre of the poll was "Detective" films when filming the reaction. Just say "it won our poll" to save themselves the grief of grouchy YT commenters.
Paul Cox
2024-11-28 19:02:46 +0000 UTCI really wish they would say that they compile these polls based on google in their intros. So many comments on youtube saying that "your patreons are idiots for telling you this is a comedy etc." It's not our fault!
Birdie Num Num
2024-11-28 18:55:26 +0000 UTCIt is an underrated classic. Borderline masterpiece.
Daniel N
2024-11-28 18:49:57 +0000 UTCIf The Game wins I suggest doing the second place off of this as well somewhere, just so we actually get a detective movie...although Witness would be a funny second place because while it IS about a detective, it's probably also not what you'd expect from "detective movie," even though it's great.
Tyler Foster
2024-11-28 18:46:38 +0000 UTCGoogle's been broken for years, so that tracks lol.
Paul Cox
2024-11-28 18:44:02 +0000 UTCWin or lose, please do The Game as soon as possible. It's been in my top 5 films I most want to see on this channel for YEARS!
Future Boy
2024-11-28 18:42:52 +0000 UTCGotta take that up with Google, then! Google Search: "Top Detective Films" -Sam
TBR Schmitt
2024-11-28 18:36:12 +0000 UTCGreat list here. Very difficult to choose. Here's my recommendation for the future: Death on the Nile, another very good Agatha Christie adaptation featuring Hercule Poirot.
Lee N.
2024-11-28 18:33:43 +0000 UTCYet another example of a poll that will result in a good movie but in which Google has led you astray - The Game is not a detective movie. It has a plot with a mystery in it, which is probably why it came up. Identity is also not a detective movie. That said, there's literally only one movie on this poll I don't like and it's only because I haven't seen it.
Tyler Foster
2024-11-28 18:33:10 +0000 UTCIt's too bad The Thin Man has no chance. The dialog is terrific. "I have to keep her from spending all the money I married her for."
Smooticus
2024-11-28 18:26:23 +0000 UTCThank you for including some old noirs in this poll(even though they probably have no chance of winning). But almost all of these titles are must see's. Pretty diverse too, got every decade represented.
Birdie Num Num
2024-11-28 18:25:57 +0000 UTCFallen is a great movie. Denzel is awesome in it.
Chadwick Von
2024-11-28 18:25:14 +0000 UTCI imagine The Game will win, and it's a good solid movie, but a lot of reactors have already done it and I've never seen anyone do Blue Velvet!
Analytical Guy
2024-11-28 18:24:46 +0000 UTCI had to expand my bones from 3 to 6. All of these are worth watching!
Smooticus
2024-11-28 18:24:16 +0000 UTCSorry, but who's the "detective" in The Game? It will probably win because people want to see the reaction, but I'm baffled by its inclusion in this category.
Paul Cox
2024-11-28 18:24:15 +0000 UTCObviously The Game
Phillyman!!
2024-11-28 18:23:09 +0000 UTCThe Game! Duh!
