Air force one really is the purest 90s movie ever

Victor Tan

Get ready to have your mind blown by the Blues Brothers! There’s no other movie like it.

William

Yes, my favorite musical!

Moe howard

Challenge accepted 😜

Smooticus

As a kid I would replay the Blues Brothers on VHS over and over. Sometimes I would sprinkle in the Land before Time franchise, but for some reason as a little kid I was captivated by The Blues Brothers. lol I'm sure you two are going to love it and I look forward to seeing your reactions to it!

Forrest

That's a bad ass trio. I've asked for Blues Brothers a few times, so majorly happy for that, I really hope you both laugh your asses off watching it especially during the car chase at the end. Gold.

VonPunk

Theatrical is 133 minutes, extended is 148. Not a big deal if you watched the longer version, there's good stuff in it, I just think the theatrical has better pacing. One thing that is quite apparent when watching the longer version in HD is that there are sequences where the quality of the film itself changes, which is because the extended pieces were taken from a lower quality source (a print rather than the original negative) and thus the visual look of the transfer will change.

Tyler Foster

We have filmed it already and I don't know which version we watched! I'm assuming the theatrical, I believe it was around 2.5 hours, maybe?! -Sam

Nice! Air Force One. "Get off my plane!"

Alex

I'm curious to your reaction of how many performers we recognize or even know hahah -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Pure coincidence that I just put this on the poll! Haha -Sam

42 is good, but Ford's in a small(ish) supporting role there. I was talking specifically about his leads.

For me, the original Blues Brothers is also far and away the greatest "SNL" adaptation, by a country mile. Blues Brothers 2000 is one of the worst sequels of all time and I'm with you on Caddyshack, which is not a good movie (Happy Gilmore steamrolls it as far as broad golf comedies go). As for Ford, I thought Morning Glory was okay and Hollywood Homicide was likable (if far from the heights of Ron Shelton's Bull Durham). I've also heard very good things about 42 and The Age of Adaline (although I imagine both would be debated as to whether or not they're leading roles), and I think Dial of Destiny is far more interesting than some have given it credit for. (I liked my friend's thesis that Last Crusade was Spielberg's idea of an ending for Indy with the dad stuff; Crystal Skull was Lucas' idea of an ending with the alien stuff; and now Dial of Destiny is Ford's version of an ending.)

Tyler Foster

I think by the time you post these you've already watched the films, but personally I would recommend watching the shorter theatrical cut of The Blues Brothers over the "Unrated." That version is what was left of a longer edit before the movie was locked. Had the complete excised footage been found, the longer version would be around three hours, and have an intermission. The pacing of the Extended Version is not great because it's only extended by the footage that survives, and isn't really a "completed" edit so much as a rough draft of one.

Tyler Foster

Fuck yeah Blues Brothers!!!

Tyler Foster

I grew up in Chicago, and my Dad used to show me all the Blues Bros filming spots--its a very special film for me, and probably the wackiest musical ever made!!!

Chris Bruneau

Witness i a "Classic" !!! Peter Weir at its Best !!!

Florian Meier

I haven't seen AIR FORCE ONE in a bit. But I love me some Harry.

Philip Davetas

So excited for Blues Brothers!!! And Happy Thanksgiving you guys!!! 😊

Brent

I've only seen bits and pieces of "The Blues Brothers", but never straight up watched it. Now I got incentive to. Haha. Happy Thanksgiving!

EdmanXERO

I feel like I missed the poll for comedies...or more likely everything is mashing into a giant blur. Anyway, Blues Brothers is crazy, chaotic fun. I'm curious how many of the performers Sam and Daniel will recognize or even know who they are

Smooticus

Great triple threat 🤘🤘

Phillyman!!

Blues Brothers is the thinnest an SNL bit has ever been stretched into a film, and they did it TWICE. At least we avoided Caddyshack for just a little while longer, lol. I just looked at Harrison Ford's filmography to remember whether or not this was the last decent film in which he had the lead role, and it would've been if What Lies Beneath hadn't come out in 2000. But Air Force One is nearly the end of the line for him.

Paul Cox

Yes, Witness is fantastic. A great mix of Harrison Ford, suspense, and a legendary director. Seems like the great ones are seldom broadly loved.

David Wilkins

Going to be a great week with Jake and Elwood and President Marshall

christopher brown

While I "like" Harrison Ford in Air Force One, I "love" him in a movie he starred in called "Witness". If it never wins a poll, I hope someday Daniel and Sam watch it anyway.
