The best Berg/Wahlberg movie is Deepwater Horizon imo

Odd Thomas

I've had this movie in my collection for a number of years but never saw it until this week so I could watch it with the two of you. I hope other reactors like PiB, Addie Counts, or Asia and BJ will get around to seeing this as well.

Great Reaction to a Great movie

Deepwater Horizon is another good movie based on actual events and with Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg.

Grand Moff Slackin'

I watched American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing on Netflix. Great documentary about these events.

The way they frame John Goodman's character during the scene about who leaked the photos to Fox News makes it look like he was the one who leaked them.

I'm over 60 and a life long runner and have run marathons. I never made it to Boston but I followed the Boston marathon way back when Billy Rogers was ruling the roads in the 70's. To see this horror happen to runners, people just spreading joy and pushing themselves and that little boy, dreaming one day when he would run Boston. In my wildest dreams I could never imagine such evil would touch a marathon. But marathoners are a tough people and so glad to see those amazing folks impacted by this evil nevertheless persevere. Bless Boston and the Boston Police and its citizens. I do wish they would have tried the terrorist woman and let a jury decide.

Dammit, why didn't you warn me I was going to bawl my eyes out. I remember them finding him in the boat, but that was all I could remember. I clinched my jaw the whole movie after the bomb scene, because bullies piss me off, and I just cannot stand to think about them getting away with anything. That was a well done movie, but dammit that stuff angers and saddens me to my core.

That is an absolutely true statement!

Ha wassup neighbor, me too, about 15 min N. of the city.. Yep never forget this day, me, my father and my girlfriend were actually at the game that day and watched Napoll's walk off win.. Talked about going over to Boylston, but decided against it because of how packed it get's.. It's funny I'll go visit family in other states and people that have never been here will ask, what's it really like there.. lol.. because they've seen the movies and heard the stories.. Honestly I don't even know how to answer them, other then.. We grow up fighting each other, but if you come into our city trying to do us harm.. You're fighting all of us.. lol..

I just finished watching the reaction and it went exactly as i thought it would. Sam, you cried at the part where I said if you didnt, you have no soul. That was when Mark was talking about the daughters across the street. Dan, i see wasnt immune to it either. Youre both good people. I havent seen this in about 2 years and i must admit that i was cutting onions about 6 different times myself. When i wasnt deployed to Iraq, one of the things i did for a few years was military police. that holster that Sean was carrying was a Triple Retention Holster. Dickhead was reaching across Sean and he was NEVER going to get that weapon out like that. First is the snap that opens toward the body. Then you have to push the weapon down, then twist it in a certain way to pull it out. Sean seated in the car and being right handed,... It wasnt going to happen. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan helped the survivors because the wounds were very much like the brothers had gotten from other IEDs. Some were treated at Walter Ried Hospital in DC. And seeing soldiers and other service members with the same kinds of wounds from battle helped each other out. Glad you enjoyed the movie and thanks for showing the humanity and caring. Be well.

I read a book on this event--its seems crazy, but this is all true. Its not embellished, that big police shootout was like 1,000 rounds fired. those were suburban cops from a quiet town, they were NOT swat guys, like the crew that captured the azzhole in the boat. true heroes all around, and that Chinese man who thought so quickly on his feet, he really played a key role in their capture. God, I love this film for its heartwarming depiction of how people really come together after a tragedy, and am sooo glad you reacted to it.

Chris Bruneau

I love Mark Wahlberg, and have yet to see a movie staring him that I do not enjoy. I have never seen this one, so glad my first watch is with you two. One of my first Mark Wahlberg movies, which is a ton of dark humor fun, is "The Big Hit"

Thank you for sharing this with us, Mark! What a film! -Sam

Thank you so much for watching the movie. I went to the first showing of the movie when it came out. They had a Q & A after the movie. Two of the real people involved were there. Boston police commissioner Ed Davis played by John Goodman and Watertown sergeant Jeffery Pugliese played by J.K. Simmons. Sergeant Pugliese was there at the time they were filming the shoot out scene. He said Peter Berg would ask him detailed questions about the shoot out and shot the scene how it really happened. Mark Wahlberg’s character was the composite of 5 different people. There was a couple who were right behind me in the theater and the wife told everyone that they were there and that she was still traumatized by the incident because everyone around them was either injured or lost limbs even though they were unhurt. The city and the surrounding towns really did come together. I live 8 miles north of the city and can attest to that.

Mark Ultimatemusings

Yesterday, just by pure coincidence, I saw some real footage of how they caught the person behind the incident.

Y'all gotta add Peter Berg's other big movie from this year, Deepwater Horizon. It will 100% change how you view the fossil fuel industry cuz holy shit is it ever crazy dangerous.

djKENTO

Zero Dark Thirty would be great for a reaction. Maybe they could put it on a poll for woman directors.

Marcus Cato

This is such a great movie. I am watching this reaction immediately.

Daniel N

There's an excellent three-part documentary on Netflix called American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing that interviews a lot of the real people and includes some truly incredible footage of what occured, including the nighttime street shootout.

Brad P

Can't wait to watch this when I get home. Hope you enjoyed. I was in Boot Camp when Iraq invaded Quwait. Because of the response of AlQuaida had to female officers & US soldiers in Saudi Arabia. It was decided that they wanted war. These men used the videos produced by them for radicalization & training. Next, you need to see "Zero Dark Thirty" to see how that all ends.
