I suggest “Legal Eagles” for another Robert Redford movie. Also stars Daryl Hannah and Debra Winger. One of my favorite lite hearted romance drama comedies.

I absolutely love The Hudsucker Proxy as well. It’s one of my favorites from the Coens, but often overlooked.

This movie served as something of a template for the buddy action film (which morphed into the buddy cop genre). I'll add my voice to recommending The Sting, The Hustler, and Three Days of the Condor.

I said this above in my own comment but I disagree slightly: I would like The Sting in November, and then end the year with Newman in The Hudsucker Proxy, not least of the reasons being it's set on NYE.

I've probably said it like a hundred times now, but: One of the next films in your Coen Brothers journey, chronologically, is The Hudsucker Proxy (1994). It stars Tim Robbins from Shawshank, Jennifer Jason Leigh from Fast Times, and Paul Newman, who gives one of his greatest performances. It's also a movie about New Year's Eve, so, perhaps something to consider trying to get out for this year's NYE.
Also, naturally, must echo everyone who mentioned The Sting, which I think is even better than this, and All the President's Men, which is a masterpiece. Newman is also great in The Hustler (1961). Many people in the comments have mentioned The Color of Money (1986), which stars Newman and Tom Cruise, in a film directed by Martin Scorsese. However, The Color of Money is a sequel to The Hustler, with Newman playing the same character. The Color of Money is going to be much more popular, because it's newer and it has Tom Cruise in it, but you should absolutely watch The Hustler first.

“These guys need to jump in some water.” - Always fun watching these reactions, knowing what’s going to happen .😀
Definitely recommend The Sting as others have . Also has the same director (George Roy Hill) as this one.

You need to watch The Sting with Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

For Paul Newman, I'd recommend The Hustler (1961) and its sequel, The Color of Money (1986). Also, The Verdict (1982), The Sting (1973), Cool Hand Luke (1967), and Absence of Malice (1981).
For Robert Redford, I'd recommend, Three Days of the Condor (1975), Spy Game (2001), Sneakers (1992), The Natural (1984), All the President's Men (1976). And, a couple of his collabs he did with Jane Fonda: Barefoot in the Park (1967) and The Electric Horseman (1979).

For one of the best duo movies of the 80s, y'all really need to check out "48hrs." It is Eddie Murphy's first feature role. This is another great Western of the 60's depicting two legendary outlaws on par with Billy the Kid and Jesse James.

"The Sting" - another Newman+Redford pairing, a classic caper/confidence scam flick from the 70s (same director as Butch and Sundance)
"Three Days of the Condor" - great spy thriller with Redford
The Natural (1984) - really good baseball movie with R Redford
"The Colour of Money" - another Paul Newman great, which also includes very very young Tom Cruise.

You really nailed the key ingredient in this film; the chemistry between Redford and Newman. I also think the score adds a nice melancholy touch.
If you do start looking into the Newman catalog I would recommend starting with The Hustler.

Every comment is saying it, but it's worth saying again "The Sting"
Most people would say it's better than Butch & Sundance. Personally, I love Butch and Sundance more, but I love both.
I probably prefer this one because it was the first vhs tape my family got when I was a kid, and I watched it over and over obsessively.

Robert Redford and Paul Newman both star in “The Sting” (1973) which is a must-see.
Redford in “Three Days of the Condor” (1973) is an excellent spy thriller.
Paul Newman in “Cool Hand Luke” (1967) is one of those rare movies with 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes—another must-see.
But Newman in “The Hustler” (1961) and the sequel “The Color of Money” (1988, also starring Tom Cruise) you guys HAVE to do! And that's a Martin Scorsese film, by the way.

It seems like the last reaction of the year is always a banger with you guys (2021 = The Prestige, 2022 = Boogie Nights, 2023 = Ocean's Eleven). A great way to round out 2024 would be with The Sting!
Redford and Newman only made two movies together, and they were both equally great.

A young, clean-shaven Sam Elliott is one of the card players in the opening sequence. You only get a brief glimpse of him though as Sundance is walking away from the table. About 15 years later, he married this film's leading lady, Katharine Ross.
Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West and Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch were both released shortly before Butch and Sundance came out. Although they're very different in tone, all three films deal with similar themes of gunfighters and outlaws coming to the realization that the days of the Old West are coming to a close. And all three are considered among the greatest westerns ever made.

Fantastic reaction, guys! So glad you loved this wonderful movie. Newman was the biggest star of the 60s and Redford (along with Newman and Eastwood) was the biggest star of the 70s. Though they became very close friends until Newman’s death, they only made one more movie together, 1973’s Best Picture winner, The Sting. I’m all for more of these guys on the channel!
Newman’s greatest movies from his prime were probably The Hustler, Hud and Cool Hand Luke (though I adore Harper, as well) and had later terrific pictures like The Verdict, Absence of Malice, Nobody’s Fool and The Color of Money (sequel to the Hustler, this time Scorsese directing Newman to his only ever competitive Oscar win). Redford’s best include Downhill Racer, The Hot Rock, Jeremiah Johnson, The Candidate, All the President's Men, 3 Days of the Condor and The Natural, though he made many other good ones and directed, very successfully, several more in which he didn’t actually appear.

Such an incredible film. Some people found the “modern” music jarring, not understanding that it was very intentional…it doesn’t “feel” like western music, just like the west no longer “feels” like it used to for the two main characters. The new world is coming, and they can’t stop it. The game RDR2 is basically a long-form version of this story, plus every other western ever filmed. 😁
