Comedy Film Poll!

Help pick the Comedy movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

NOTE: I have seen Idiocracy, Old School, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, and Joe Dirt, so this would only be Sam's first time watching!

Comments

King Ralph (1991) Johnny English (2003)

christopher brown

I keep bringing it up, but I think you'd love the early Steve Martin comedies: The Jerk, The Three Amigos, The Man With Two Brains, Roxanne, LA Story

Neal Romanek

Turner & Hooch (1989) is a Comedy Crime Suspense Drama starring Tom Hanks and Mare Winningham... a detective must adopt a rambunctious dog in order to solve a murder case. This movie is HILARIOUS with a lot of heart! It's the perfect for an at-home movie date night! It's got a little something for everyone! ♥

fire12wife

Caddyshack came out in 1980, not 1984.

Birdie Num Num

In honor of Teri Garr, Tootsie (1982).

Bill Woods

Caddyshack or Blues Brothers?? I'm game! 🙂

Scott Kerr

Too many quality selections so I’ll just go with release date order - blues brothers.

Sergeant Pepper

As a kid when I was left at home by myself (this was the 90s people, it wasn't frowned upon as much), I would put the Blues Brothers on and play it back over and over all day. Then as I moved into my early teens I had a grandfather who was an Elvis Impersonator, and between his sets when he was changing outfits, I performed several Blues Brothers skits for his show to entertain people (I had a pillow stuffed in my belt to make me look fat, lol), practicing and remembering all the steps and moves to that dances. This movie might be a nightmare for YouTube, but it is worth a watch!

Forrest

I know this film is not technically "comedy", but since you guys are now parents, I highly, highly, highly recommend The Wild Robot 💕

Javier B

Hope the next Comedy poll includes 'Friday' (1995). Chris Tucker's breakout role. Hood classic.

Shehab Dawoud

Other movies to watch are Wayne’s World (1992) and Ace Ventura Pet Detective (1994)

pete

A forgotten comedy of the 80s that I would love to see on the channel is 1986's 'Ruthless People'. Danny DeVito, Bette Midler and Judge Reinhold star. It was a huge hit (the 8th biggest film of the year and at that time, Disney's biggest comedy ever). It was written by the same guy who wrote My Cousin Vinny and directed by the guys who made Airplane!. How can that not entice you!?!?

Dan McComb

I voted for Police Academy but it's not my favorite or anything. I'm going to recommend Johnny Dangerously.

Antmovies

Annie Hall/Stir Crazy/Happy-Go-Lucky/ people will vote for all the same films over and over again same in other reactors votes

hogweed

Blues Brothers wouldn't be a good watch on YouTube because of all the copywritten music

Red Tail Zephier

YouTube has different rules for different reactors some get away with stuff others don't , what I do know is Jen had issues getting it up at first then months later it got hit with copyright and was taken down after appeals I believe it eventually got out back up

Ian

Honestly, the church scene is one of the scenes I think goes on too long in the Extended. The extended was never a completed edit -- they were testing a full-on 3 hour roadshow version with intermission at first, and when they went looking for deleted material in the VHS/LD/early DVD era, this is what they could find -- and I think while there is some additional material in the church scene that is good, they would've cut it down a little if they'd left the film in a longer form, so the ideal edit of that scene is somewhere between the theatrical and extended. But that's just my personal POV.

Tyler Foster

I actually haven't heard of any reactors mention they struggled with copyright on Blues Brothers. It is a musical, of course, but all the reactors have to do is mostly silence it.

Tyler Foster

There is quite a bit of music, but I’ve seen other reactors come up with a good edit that contains at least a good “feel” for the music elements.

David Wilkins

The Blues Brothers might be the craziest move ever made! And I mean that in a good way.

William

One of my favs, and right up TBR Schmitt & Sam's alley for sure! Also has Chris Rock, Nicollette Sheridan (whom Sam will know from Desperate Housewives), and Robin Shou.

Guston Zimasheen

have to get the full church scene. thats fire. im atheist to the core but that scene makes me see the light so much i turn into the next reincarnation of the dalai lama

fredfinks

The blues brothers is fantastic but man it's a copyright nightmare 🥺 best of luck Daniel 🤞

Ian

Brilliant film

Nick Sneddon

I usually hate musicals, but the soundtrack to the Blues Brothers is incredible. It's my go to film when I'm feeling down 👍🏻

Nick Sneddon

Blues Brothers is Great, But i recommend strongly "Overboard" from 1987 with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell and "Working Girl" from 1988 with Harrison Ford and Melanie Griffith for the Next Comedy Poll

Florian Meier

I prefer The Blues Brothers over Caddyshack. However, Caddyshack is funnier, so I went with that since this is a comedy poll.

Athos Count de la Fère

I was in Wildcats, they filmed it at my high school!

Chris Bruneau

Yes please, The Blues Brothers. Theatrical, by the way -- although I also like the Extended (aka "Unrated").

Tyler Foster

As a Chicagoan--I am FORCED to vote for Blues Bros, the greatest film ever made in the Chi!

Chris Bruneau

I'm a little surprised you didn't see Naked 2 1/2 sooner, since you seemed to enjoy the first one a while ago.

Mario

Every one of these is great

Smooticus

LOL

Guston Zimasheen

Blues Brothers from this list. But i never see 'The Man With Two Brains' mentioned by anyone

fredfinks

Blues Brothers.

Jeremy Charlie

You misspelled Joe Dirté 😂

mikethemotormouth

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels would fit this genre for s future poll... 👍

dayriser

NG 2.5 is hilarious and has one of the best comedic lines in history regarding drug dealers lol.

Aaron Barlow

I would love for y'all to react to "Beverly Hills Ninja" one day, starring the late great Chris Farley 🙏

dieselbeast

You can't go wrong with any of these, but I know how much you want to (rewatch) Joe Dirt. LOL.

Guston Zimasheen

Neighbors (1981)

YoureMrLebowski

Still Crazy (1998) is a classic of both comedy and music. As Roger Ebert said once that, "It is a gentler version of Spinal Tap." You should check it out!

Johnny Graterol Guevara

So many awesome choices

Chadwick Von

Wildcats (1986) Goldie Hawn, Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson. Parenthood (1989) Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, Dianne Weist, Keanu Reeves, Joaquin Phoenix
