Hellraiser (1987) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Hellraiser (1987) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Comments

To me the hobo always looked like Tom Baker era Doctor Who. In fact I thought it was Tom Baker when I first saw this movie. As far as where this movie takes place , it was shot in England (in an early scene where Kirsty is walking along the river, you can see the Batersea Power Station in London in the background- famous from the Pink Floyd Animals album cover). The studio however wanted to make it seem it was in America, so they dubbed a lot of the actors’ voices.

Part 2 and 3 are worth a watch. I haven't watched any of the other sequels. Glad you liked this film.

I think most people know Andrew Robinson from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Garak, who IMO is one of the best supporting/recurring characters in all of TV history. It took me a minute to place him, since I'm so used to seeing him in Cardassian makeup - and then my eyes lit up.

I love these movies. Great reaction. The story goes, Frank escaped the cenobites, going back through to where he last was, essentially where his soul would be tethered. Julia's memories of him combined with Larry's blood on the floor is what pulled Frank's soul back into our world. So I do recommend Hellbound: Hellraiser 2(1988) for sure. I liked Hellraiser 3(1992), but it is regarded as the weakest sequal from what I recall-mainly because the cenobites in 3 are not on par with those from the first 2. But I still liked it and thought it was fun. Hellraiser 3 does also go into a bit more additional lore. 4 - Hellraiser: Bloodline(1996) is also good I think. It is a return to form I think giving us some memorable cenobites. And it delves more into the lore and background of things. It is definitely worth it. The sequals following the 4th movie are mainly just their own stories, and some were not even origionally made as Hellraiser movies as I recall. They wouldn't be necessary but I did enjoy them. The one beyond 4 I would recommend seeing is Hellraiser: Hellseeker(2002). It is worth watching though be prepared it's weird lol.

Haha...I've always been a huge horror fan. My birthday is October 25th and every year we did haunted houses, scary movies and cemetery walks. I don't know about brave....but I am pretty weird! Lol

I don’t know how many extra films from the polls we’ll be able to squeeze in with our copyright issues but we’ll try to get some more in! Thanks for the recommendation! -Sam

Love this !! Andrew Robinson aka Scorpio (Dirty Harry Villian) is Perfect in this role !!! For your Spooky Season I'm hoping for Jack Nicholsons "The Witches of Eastwick" ... You would love this Guys

Florian Meier

For me, the key ingredient in this film is Christopher Young's score. One of my all time favorites. A nice little transgressive film to start the spooky season. Well done.

James Rogers

Fun reaction. My favorite line: β€œThey’re demons, they’re shifty.” Daniel had me cracking up. I hadn’t seen this in a long time so Jesus scared me too. I would say watch Hellbound: Hellraiser II because it explains the cenobites a little more, but it is gorier than the first. I tend to like that one better.

Robert Boyd

Wow! I cannot wait to watch this reaction.

I actually read it in one day back in high school when I discovered Barker and devoured anything of his I could get my hands on (still my favorite author to this day).

Jimmie V

Yes, another classic! If you guys are into reading, don't sleep on the writer/director of this, Clive Barker. He's primarily an author and he was just making movies on the side for a while. He's basically known for writing the most disturbing imaginative stuff in the most beautiful baroque language. Highly recommended.

Jimmie V

Glad y'all had the chance to see this. Even though Pinhead and the rest of the Cenobites had relatively minor appearances in this film, they were still an important part of the story. I would recommend watching part 2 to get a better view of the dimensional space the Cenobites occupy. Also, if you guys get the opportunity, I also recommend another Clive Barker film: Nightbreed.

Andrew Robinson is the crazy killer from Dirty Harry

Brian Anthony

I don't know if you've looked it up since you filmed this, but the actor who played Larry was the killer in the first Dirty Harry film.

Paul Cox

Love the novella this is based on...some truly great Lovecraftian horror...the movie is, in my opinion, a fucking mess. There's some studio interference here, too--especially the overdubbed American accents. But it's still an incredibly interesting mess. And visually stunning. And visually horrifying.

Steve Mercier

I told myself never to watch this again, but I do want to see your reaction,so I’ll give it a go lol.

Brian Anthony

Looking forward to this

As crazy as it sounds...this takes me back to childhood! I love these movies....definitely nothing like them anywhere.
