The 70s was a time of top football movies.
Neal Romanek
2024-10-09 18:22:38 +0000 UTCNah, it's a great romantic comedy and a quintessential piece of 1990s culture.
Neal Romanek
2024-10-09 18:21:02 +0000 UTCThanks for the tip!
Thomas Yanez
2024-10-01 14:24:29 +0000 UTCAnother football movie to watch is The Program (1993), starring a young Halle Berry and James Caan.

2024-10-01 02:13:31 +0000 UTCI have to say, I agree.
Scott Kerr
2024-09-29 17:23:14 +0000 UTCIf you are going to watch The Longest Yard, it needs to be the 70's original with Burt Reynolds.
Athos Count de la Fère
2024-09-29 05:31:44 +0000 UTCIt had one of LL Cool J's first raps. It wasn't even featured on the soundtrack and yet they bookended the movie with it. https://youtu.be/zNz_ROlyoqA?si=h996ImIY4_dVirtA.
Philip Davetas
2024-09-28 23:56:12 +0000 UTCI was okay with it, but it doesn't fit in with the football poll. It's more of a romance movie.
Philip Davetas
2024-09-28 23:53:03 +0000 UTCMan, I love WILDCATS.
Philip Davetas
2024-09-28 23:51:24 +0000 UTCI guess you've both seen The Waterboy? :)
David W.
2024-09-28 23:00:21 +0000 UTCI love Tom Cruise but Jerry Maguire is one of the worst films ever
Odd Thomas
2024-09-28 16:12:56 +0000 UTCI think a Basketball poll would've been more relevant with the NBA starting soon. The Football poll could've been saved for when we get closer to the Super Bowl. Hope we can get it soon, maybe around All-Star weekend? Anyway, my vote is 'Any Given Sunday', for the sole purpose of you hearing one of the greatest motivational speeches ever.
Shehab Dawoud
2024-09-28 09:46:20 +0000 UTCYes! And Best of Times!
Ray Johnson
2024-09-28 06:58:25 +0000 UTCWildcats is a great one and so is Best of Times with Kurt Russell and Robin Williams!
Ray Johnson
2024-09-28 06:57:27 +0000 UTCLittle Giants Towers! above all....
Hector M.
2024-09-28 06:38:19 +0000 UTCWould like to have seen “The Replacements” on the list, but there’s a lot of good ones here. Going with Varsity Blues.
FischerMax98
2024-09-28 04:33:58 +0000 UTCIf you watch Jerry Maguire, I recommend "Vanilla Sky" (2001) as well. Also Tom Cruise and same director Cameron Crowe, as Jerry Maguire. They make a great team.
Jonathan Patrick
2024-09-28 03:39:32 +0000 UTCDo you think rugby is soccer? Insecurity doesn't factor into it, ma'am. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyOXY8BTWjg
Tostito Buddy
2024-09-28 03:10:22 +0000 UTCWhile Jerry Maguire is an amazing movie, I wouldn't consider it a football movie.
Adrian Swales
2024-09-28 00:48:45 +0000 UTCI hope more than Jerry Maguire gets a watch in this poll. I hate that movie.
Donna Castellano
2024-09-28 00:44:57 +0000 UTCI wish the original "The Longest Yard" was on here. I would've voted for that first and foremost!
TGrimace
2024-09-28 00:01:26 +0000 UTCIf you wanted to put "The Longest Yard" on here, the 1974 original should have been first. It starred Burt Reynolds, whereas in the 2005 version Burt is only a bit player. For your next drama poll can I suggest the film "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri"? A multiple Oscar winner from 2017. Thank you.
Chris Baldwin
2024-09-27 23:31:15 +0000 UTCNot just not true, but aggressively UNtrue.
Paul Cox
2024-09-27 22:47:13 +0000 UTCFantastic choice!!!
Rudy Hernandez
2024-09-27 21:26:57 +0000 UTCI nominate Wildcats with Goldie Hawn

2024-09-27 21:20:34 +0000 UTCPopcorn in Bed did it.
Tyler Foster
2024-09-27 21:01:23 +0000 UTCI don't know if I'd consider BLIND SIDE a football movie. I mean, I guess it's about a football player. I like this flick though even though it's caked in controversy for not being true to the facts.
Philip Davetas
2024-09-27 20:07:31 +0000 UTCI like the original version better.
John Fitzpatrick
2024-09-27 19:54:08 +0000 UTCYou’ve never watched an American football game, apparently. Insecure?
Catherine LW
2024-09-27 18:52:13 +0000 UTCIt's too bad you guys already saw Remember the Titans. Haha. Guess Jerry Maguire or Any Given Sunday will have to suffice. :P
EdmanXERO
2024-09-27 18:22:00 +0000 UTCSemi-Tough with Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson
Samolina Pilchard
2024-09-27 18:19:02 +0000 UTCWhile Jerry Maguire is the least "football" of these films, it's an all-time classic for me.
Brandon Meng
2024-09-27 18:05:32 +0000 UTCI see the Tuohys claim Oher tried to extort 15 million from them before going public with his story. Regardless, I thought this film getting Oscar wins/noms was a low point in their history. The trailer looks like a fake trailer from Tropic Thunder or something.
Birdie Num Num
2024-09-27 17:39:58 +0000 UTCTough to choose. I really wish more attention would be given to the 1974 original Longest Yard. The Sandler version is good, but the original is superior Another is North Dallas Forty. It's an interesting look at being a pro football player in the 1970's that still has some relevance today
Smooticus
2024-09-27 17:36:21 +0000 UTCThe far superior version. Much grittier and Eddie Albert is an absolute bastard as the warden.
Smooticus
2024-09-27 17:25:25 +0000 UTCHeaven Can Wait has more football scenes than some of these choices. Also Lock Up.
Birdie Num Num
2024-09-27 17:16:57 +0000 UTCThe real Rudy in real life has been reported on as a snake oil salesman selling the Hollywood image of himself on the talk circuit but is a phony in real life.
Keith Brown
2024-09-27 16:42:49 +0000 UTCNecessary Roughness better than any of the selections presented on this poll.
James Rogers
2024-09-27 16:28:48 +0000 UTCRudy hands down. But I also thought of The Replacements seeing it wasn't on this list. Did you guys already do that? Someone did. 🤔
Antmovies
2024-09-27 16:27:30 +0000 UTCRudy! Rudy! Rudy! As a side note, take a look at The Replacements, gene Hackman and Keanu reves.
Jeremy Charlie
2024-09-27 16:01:09 +0000 UTCSo do I , I was mearly saying when I first read it being British I thought of what you would call soccer no big deal 🤷
Ian
2024-09-27 15:43:55 +0000 UTCWith the cameos, I've a very special place in my heart for the remake
mikethemotormouth
2024-09-27 15:40:23 +0000 UTCmost of the world call it football
hogweed
2024-09-27 15:33:50 +0000 UTCNgl when I saw football I though you were talking what us British call football lol surprised therefore invincible isn't in the list but went for the blind side as it's excellent 👍
Ian
2024-09-27 15:26:01 +0000 UTCThe Tuohys put him in basically the same kind of conservatorship Britney Spears was in, reshaping his story to make themselves look like saints, and then keeping most of the money. S H A D Y
Paul Cox
2024-09-27 15:20:06 +0000 UTCAlso, for those who don't know, Rudy was recently released on 4K UHD with a brand-new director's cut that restores two scenes. I expect TBR would watch the theatrical cut, but fans may be interested in the longer version.
Tyler Foster
2024-09-27 15:17:03 +0000 UTCAgreeing with the comments that the original Longest Yard should probably be first, and The Blind Side can probably fall by the wayside given its subject has just recently started calling it a complete fiction and pushing back against his whole rags-to-riches story.
Tyler Foster
2024-09-27 15:15:58 +0000 UTCThe original "The Longest Yard" (1974) with Burt Reynolds is the classic.
Mr. Writhms
2024-09-27 15:15:35 +0000 UTCAmerican football VS Rugby makes me think of the Crocodile Dundee line "That's not a knife. That's a knife." It would be like if Australia had a version of basketball where the players wore mylar jumpsuits with fish bowl helmets. American football players look like Flash Gordon henchmen to me. Real men wear shirts and a pair of shorts when they smack each other to the ground over a ball. That's just basic science.
Tostito Buddy
2024-09-27 15:15:14 +0000 UTCRudy. RUDY, DAMMIT!
Thomas Yanez
2024-09-27 15:14:06 +0000 UTCI pretty much selected all of them. LOL
Tristan Durant
2024-09-27 15:13:52 +0000 UTCNorth Dallas Forty!!
John Fitzpatrick
2024-09-27 15:13:32 +0000 UTCTough to view The Blind Side with any credibility nowadays.
Paul Cox
2024-09-27 15:13:06 +0000 UTCYou should watch the 1974 version of The Longest Yard with Burt Reynolds.
John Fitzpatrick
2024-09-27 15:12:49 +0000 UTCWe are Marshall highly underrated. Overshadowed by Remember the Titans at the time.
James
2024-09-27 15:11:55 +0000 UTCJerry Maguire and Rudy are the best choices 😎 Recommend.... "Necessary Roughness " (1991)
Jonathan Patrick
2024-09-27 15:03:24 +0000 UTCRudy, Rudy, Rudy, RUDY...
Brandon Royce
2024-09-27 15:03:05 +0000 UTCCould watch Pacino's speech in Any Given Sunday every day.
Allen S.
2024-09-27 15:02:43 +0000 UTCNo, “Waterboy”? Lol Nevertheless, I’m sure you can guess what movie I picked 😆
Rudy Hernandez
2024-09-27 15:02:27 +0000 UTCThe Replacements.
