Wes Anderson Film Poll!

Help pick the Wes Anderson movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

I love me some Wes Anderson but 'The French Dispatch' was a pain to get through!

Jason Dolan

It was a parental recommendation, I forget whose.

Tyler Foster

I can't remember, did Burn After Reading win a poll? Or did they just pick it from the Coen filmography? If they're working through the non-poll winners in order, Barton Fink should be next up actually.

Paul Cox

I think my ranking is just about the same, but I'd probably notch Life Aquatic over Isle of Dogs.

Paul Cox

You should just watch all of them in order to see his progression, they're all worth watching

Matt

While Rushmore is my personal favorite, going with my second fave here, The Royal Tenenbaums. Think it will be better for a reaction. Great movie and stacked cast. Haven’t seen Astroid City yet. The only WA movie I don’t like is Bottle Rocket. Have watched it probably 4 times TRYING to like it, but .. it just doesn’t work for me. Don’t know why. French Dispatch was just ok. The rest are all gold.

FischerMax98

Also, if it helps, Butch Cassidy is winning the Duos poll!

Tyler Foster

While I doubt we'll get an older director's filmography, it would be nice to get a pre-1970 poll every couple of months. Even if they're less popular, six pre-1970s movies a year shouldn't be too hard on the channel's metrics.

Tyler Foster

Henry Sugar is part of an anthology of four shorts Anderson made for Netflix. The poll references the full title: The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar and Three More. The stories together run just under 90m.

Tyler Foster

The best Wes Anderson movies are the Paddington films ;-)

Dryfesands

Start with Bottle Rocket (his first movie) and then build from there.

Richard Jyles

GBH will always be my favorite Wes Anderson but soooo many 10/10 movies here, he has such a wonderful filmography My ranking after GBH: The Royal Tenenbaums Moonrise Kingdom Rushmore Fantastic Mr. Fox Isle of Dogs Life Aquatic --- the rest Excited for you both to get into these!

Brandon Meng

Weird how Royal Tenenbaums is beating The Life Aquatic

Odd Thomas

A quick FYI, Henry Sugar is only around 40 minutes or so long

Smooticus

I suggested a poll for some classic directors when they did a Scorsese poll I think. Sadly, don't think there's much interest, most classic film polls get a lot less votes than other polls. There are a lot of patrons who likely have never seen a Billy Wilder or Howard Hawks or John Ford film(based on some of the comments in past classic film polls - "I've never heard of any of these films etc") and the fact that Young Guns got more votes than The Searchers and The Wild Bunch combined in a western poll.

Birdie Num Num

All of these are worth seeing and i had to change my number of votes from 3 to 5 with this one

Smooticus

I completely agree, but I should add there are a couple I haven't seen. And speaking of the Coen Brothers, it will make my day when someone out there reacts to Barton Fink.

Marcus Cato

Those are all excellent choices. Billy Wilder is a special favorite of mine.

Marcus Cato

Gene Hackman All Day ;)

Florian Meier

Bottle Rocket is great.

I picked Steve Zissou because it's my favorite Wes Anderson but Asteroid City almost got my vote.

Antmovies

Classic Directors Howard Hawks , George Stevens and John Huston !! I knew I would think of more to add to my list from earlier comments !

Keith Brown

You do a great job covering current directors please look into classic Hollywood directors ! You have found a few of Hitchcock's movies but there is also John Ford, William Wyler, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, Anthony Mann and others I will think of later. Most everyone have seen most of Stanley Kubrick's which is why I did not list him.

It’s gotta be a vote for Fox!

Garry L

No clue who that even is 🤷 only heard of mr fox 🦊 so voting for that 👍

Ian

It's a little bit heart breaking that the earlier movies aren't doing well (Bottle Rocket, Rushmore). But Royal Tenenbaums is fantastic too and it's kicking arse so far.

Tostito Buddy

Given there's already a poll it's sort of too late but honestly I think Anderson deserves the chronological complete filmography treatment like Tarantino (and hopefully The Coen Brothers).

Tyler Foster

"Life Aquatic", please.

Thomas Yanez

And then see Mr Fox as a treat.

Paul Cox

The trifecta is Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Best experience is to watch his style progress in chronological order.
