Just something fun I noticed. The actor playing the new police chief is the same actor who played the revival preacher in season one of True Detective. Like where this is going so far.

Varga's teeth alone really distract from the fact that the actor is David Thewlis, probably best known for playing Professor Lupin. For me, I think the total seriousness that Michael Stuhlbarg uses to deliver Sy's line, "Feminine hygiene deployed as a weapon!?!" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Runner up going to Nikki's butt being referred to as a "nutcracker caboose" to Ray, who can't get offended because he can't admit that he's engaged to her. There will be a whole lot more of Carrie Coon as Gloria the "old chief" to come. I remember when this season was airing, the final season of The Leftovers was airing at the same time. So she was starring in two critically acclaimed shows delivering a great performance at the same time on two different networks. When does that happen?
