I love this movie! Your reaction was priceless. It hit all the right notes on why this movie is so good. Probably my favorite Ridley Scott film. Geena Davis was in Beetlejuice (1988) which I’m not sure if you done a reaction to. Susan Sarandon was in The Client and Little Women, both from 1994. I think they would make great reactions to.

I would second the Bull Durham suggestion for Susan Sarandon, along with Atlantic City, and her Oscar-winning performance in Dead Man Walking, opposite Sean Penn.

Even though I do have a response, which is to agree, if I could post a gif, I would post one of Angelica saying "I have no response to that."

And from Moonstruck to Joe Versus the Volcano for the John Patrick Shanley connection.

Also, I see others suggesting The Witches of Eastwick, which is very good, although on some level I honestly hope you watch it just so there's an increased chance of you following Cher to Moonstruck.

Thank you for saying "bated" and not "baited."

You've started a little arc. First you watched Geena Davis' iconic baseball movie, A League of Their Own. Then you watched Thelma and Louise, which unites Davis with Susan Sarandon. Now you have to finish the arc by watching Susan Sarandon's iconic baseball movie, Bull Durham.

Brad Pitt has a thing for hitchhiking with strangers. He did the same thing in the movie Kalifornia lol

People forget, but this caused a huge social discussion about women at the time. There really wasn't anything remotely similar to a movie like this starring women, and it stirred the shit. In a good way I think/hope. And the ending was something everyone was talking about. That ending was considered by many to be very shocking. Now I think Thelma & Louise is viewed as more of a "fun" movie about two friends, but back then it was so in the ether, you couldn't not watch it.
- I believe this is the first movie ever to have someone take a selfie
- Robert Downey Jr. was considered for the Brad Pitt role. George Clooney auditioned 5x but ultimately I think they got the right guy. The entire world agrees!
- The actor who played the truck driver, during filming he joked and complained to Ridley Scott, "I'm never going to get another date again."

Yes! That scene is so good! So heartbreaking for Louise too!

This is one of the movies I always forget that Ridley Scott directed, until I watch it again and realize how fucking amazing it is. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon are straight-up queens in this, Brad Pitt manages to steal every scene he's in, Christopher McDonald plays the douchiest piece-of-shittiest husband ever, and I have a particular soft spot for Harvey Keitel's character here, trying so hard to keep the inevitable from...inevitabling. Very fucking cool.

This was one of those movies I always meant to watch over the years but never got around to it for some reason. It's one of those movies where the ending alone is so famous that I've known about it forever. Personally, I don't think knowing a spoiler necessarily ruins a movie. IMO you're either going to like a movie or not and knowing things about the plot ahead of time won't change that.
I think my favourite scene in the whole movie was between Louise and Jimmy at the diner before Jimmy leaves. The waitress says something like "good thing he left when he did or I'd have to put out a fire!" remarking on the love between the two of them. Then the camera just hangs on Louise's blank expression for a few seconds before cutting to the next shot and you know that Louise is torn up inside over the normal life she'll never have with Jimmy.
BTW The SImpsons episode 'Marge on the Lam' makes a lot of references to this movie so I'd recommend watching on your time if you haven't seen it before.

For another early Brad Pitt road movie, try Kalifornia (1993), also starring Juliette Lewis and David Duchovny. It'a a great little crime/thriller/serial killer story.

Harvey Keitel was the co-lead along with Keith Carradine (Lou Solverson in Fargo S1) in Ridley Scott's first film, The Duellists. Although long overshadowed by Scott's next two films (Alien and Blade Runner), I think it's one of the great debuts for a director.
