Fallout Season 1 Episode 8 'The Beginning' Full TV Reaction!!

Fallout Season 1 Episode 8 'The Beginning' Full TV Reaction!!

Comments

I’ve watched this series a few times. It will not surprise me if Maximus becomes the antagonist in a later season. The influence of the BoS and the sudden power given to him could very easily corrupt him. Also, even though Moldaver opposed Vault-tec, she may not be good. In the games, no faction is ideal. So, I’m very interested in her back story. This such a great adaptation. Going forward, I hope we see more wasteland creatures, like mirelurks, radscorpions (honestly, I’m surprised we didn’t see these two) and super mutants. Great reactions throughout this series!

I forget the exact details but there was the vault in the game where like the top top top of Vaultec were. I would have to assume thats where she would be. No science experiment, but more of the overseer to the overseers

Also there is a comment one of the guys makes about "You could lose money opening up a casino" that is apparently a reference to a casino in Fallout New Vegas that ended up having to close down due to losing money or something. It's truly incredible.

I can't recall any times when vaults were interconnected like Lucy's in the games, so it is pretty unique to the show, although I didn't play through all of them so there could be a couple of instances of it. Given where, geographically, they are going in season 2, I'm looking forward to a lot more references from Fallout New Vegas (which many Fallout fans consider the best game in the franchise). There is some crazy history/game lore that they can really sink their teeth into for the next season, and possibly even resurrect some of those storylines from Fallout New Vegas by featuring some characters from the game. I am really curious if they plan on making more seasons than just two, and if so, where, geographically, they go, because if they go to other areas that the games have covered, such as in DC, there is plenty of lore to pull from, whereas if they go somewhere that hasn't been explored in the games, they'll have to make sure they create a new "world" that feels realistic to the game universe.

If you want more Walton Goggins, start with Justified, it's so, so good.

Thanks for the benefit of the doubt, Alex, but we 100% missed that! 😂 -Sam

In my opinion, my thoery is that vaults 31 ,32, and 33 were for Bud Askins' experiment. Barb said that they had enough vaults for everyone in the room to have multiple to do as they wish. She seemed to have status among them so I think she has her own set of vaults with another story (experiment) behind them.

I Really enjoyed the series. One thing that stuck out to me in this episode was how quickly or easily Lucy believed everything that Moldaver said. It's easy for the audience to believe because we got so much back story in all the episodes but from Lucy's perspective all these revelations are coming from the person who kidnapped her father and has him locked in a cage. Of course once Hank fesses up its game over.

just imagine if Las Vegas was destroyed and humanity wanted to build it again but this time in a slightly different location and they renamed it to new Vegas! That is essentially the gist of it

I watched this video about Lucy and it was interesting. If you noticed, when the vault was attacked in the first episode, the only people that fought back were people from vault 31. (Bud's buds). So it turns out that Bud may have been right all along. Lucy, Hank, the girl with the eyepatch (can't remember her name). Norm didn't fight back but Norm was the main person who took the lead and was very brave in trying to find out the truth about the vaults. And they were all from vault 31, or descended from someone in vault 31. Everybody else just kind of did what they were told and wouldn't question anything the leaders told them. Also all the vault ideas floated by the different people in the meeting are all real vaults in the games. I've only ever played Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 but apparently the vault where they did experiments to create super mutant soldiers is a large part of one of the games, and super mutants are a recurring enemy in the game that you run into. They did a really good job with integrating the lore of the game into the show.

Alex

They didn't miss it. They just didn't have a big reaction to it. I think they were still overwhelmed by some other revelations.

Alex

I think you missed that Betty (the current 33 overseer) was the receptionist that introduced Cooper and Hank in the past. They really just casually tossed out her name one time.

Quintus is lowkey my favorite character in the entire show. His mannerisms are so nuanced, and Michael Cristofer just does an excellent job in the role. EDIT: Also presumably none (or nearly none) of the other vaults are set up in the three-connected-vaults configuration. That was just the particular experiment Bud came up with.

Justified, definitely. Also it's a series that has already been concluded so you don't have to wait a year for the next season.
