I also thought about A Simple Plan. Same pair of stars. Sam Raimi directing? Still blows my mind.

James Rogers

That’s going to be a regular entry for the monthly drawing. Probably the only way we’ll see it. But it’s a classic, and I’m not even a Paxton fan.

David Wilkins

The long good Friday (1980)

christopher brown

One False Move (1991) starring Bill Paxton and Billy Bob Thornton.

James Rogers

Michael Clayton (2007)

YoureMrLebowski

Despite the original being non-fiction and the sequel totally fiction, I highly prefer French Connection II to the first one.

Mike the Ginger

may i suggest sexy beast ( 2001)

hogweed

you can vote for every single movie.

YoureMrLebowski

Well nothing’s stopping me from voting multiple so I hope that’s a feature and not a bug.

David W.

I have a question...how many votes is a single person allowed on these polls?

😏

TBR Schmitt

the top three are so close, it's actually kinda exciting.

YoureMrLebowski

James Caan thought that the diner scene was the best acting of his career.

John Fitzpatrick

French Connection. Yet another one of my suggestions for the suggestion list. lol. you guys are following my lead.

Scott Kerr

Miller's Crossing (1990)

YoureMrLebowski

If French Connection wins than afterwards check out French Connection II directed by "Ronin" director John Frankenheimer !

Keith Brown

God, I love that film!!!

Chris Bruneau

Come on Donnie Brasco fans! We're so close!

Joseph Axenroth

While I try not to bite my tongue so hard I lose it, I will say I'm really excited that The French Connection seems on track to win. Also, because that's what it looks like, I will get in a note early that you should definitely check out the sequel. French Connection is considered an all-time classic, and sequels have a tough time even when the original isn't held in such high regard, but Gene Hackman is really great in it, and it has a really inspired subversion of one of the original's most famous sequences (although I'll be vague since you haven't watched it yet). On the surface, it's kinda silly given that its whole existence diverges, in a very Hollywood way, to the true story that vaguely inspired the original, but in a career full of great performances, I think French Connection II still makes Hackman's top 10.

Tyler Foster

I'm so glad to see it so well respected here. Nobody I knew had heard of it or seen it until I had them watch it, and then each felt as strongly about it as I did.

Trepanation21

Vote for both!

Trepanation21

👏🗣! It deserves to be seen!

Trepanation21

Absolutely agreed. This is a great list, but Wind River is a very powerful film.

Trepanation21

😭

Trepanation21

Oh no, Wind River! To be clear, the movies ahead of it are great, and should be watched. But Wind River *really* needs to make it to a viewing here. It's perfect for them, and those of you that haven't seen it not only should, but we should all watch it (again) here with TBR! Please include it in your votes alongside the one you're cheering for!

Trepanation21

Farewell Wind River. You deserved better.

aarswft

I know it's in third place right now but PLEASE consider Wind River. Great acting and the subject matter is very powerful

Habman

cool to see 2 friedkin films here. with arguably the 2 best car chase scenes of all time.

Birdie Num Num

I'd love to see "Lock Stock" pull into the lead, or "To Live and Die in LA" win after being way behind like a horse race. Great choices all around, though.

Brandon

Love Lock Stock.

iliketostayhome

I agree. The scene in the diner may be my favourite scene of all time, in anything.

Future Boy

cant go wrong with key largo

hogweed

I think Thief is Caan's best film.

John Fitzpatrick

Their (1981) is my favourite heist film ever. Written and directed by Michael Mann, who also did Heat. I love heat, but i think Thief is even better.

Future Boy

I've got the Shout Factory Blu-ray.

John Fitzpatrick

You should do Thief with James Caan.

John Fitzpatrick

Wind River is by far the best movie on this list.

Justin

I gotta go with Donnie Brasco but Wind River is a fantastic film. Either of those two would be great to see on the channel.

Joseph Axenroth

for your consideration: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)

YoureMrLebowski

Again, more great selections

Smooticus

Finally "To Live and Die in LA" is polling!!

Omg omg it's happening (maybe)! WIND RIVER IS SO GOOD and if you havent seen it, you should be voting for it too so you can enjoy it with ussss

Trepanation21

Lock stock is a great watch

ElmSt Reactions

Wind River deserves to win. It's such a great movie.

Stephanie

Oh man. Kudos to whomever(s) got To Live And Die In LA onto the polls. It's got my vote!

Jay Davis

Wind River is so good.

Dor

Note: While I don't expect it to win, it's worth mentioning anyway that 'To Live and Die...' is another one you can't find on streaming platforms. Occasionally it pops up on TCM, but buying the Blu-ray or DVD is the only reliable option.

Paul Cox

Especially confusing as they happily reprinted the uncensored Blu-ray. Didn't hear that it was fixed on Max, but it might be risky to go for it only for it to end up being the wrong version, although someone who's seen it could check it first.

Tyler Foster

Fantastic to see Bonnie And Clyde listed. Great list, in general, but definitely happy to see Bonnie And Clyde listed, I cannot believe there's no reaction to that movie yet. Donnie Brasco, damn, would love to see that win too! Badlands. Monster is great, Christina Ricci is so underrated in that movie. Great poll!

Toc

Ask "The Mouse."

Paul Cox

Why would they censor The French Connection. It's perfect. It won Best Picture. WTF.

Mark Kelso

I haven't tried to stream The French Connection recently, but from what I can tell with a quick search is the original edit was restored on Max as recently as last October, and maybe elsewhere too, but Prime still had the edited version. Can't find any news newer than that, though.

Paul Cox

My favourite films of 2017 were Dunkirk, Baby Driver and Wind River. Glad to see it here.

MapleResolve

Wind river about the natives 8/10 📈 the rest ass

MateoP

Hope to see Spun(2002) on the next one

mikethemotormouth

The Big Short. All star cast about the cause of the 2008 financial crisis

Patrick Crippen

Lock Stock for the win. That and Snatch were great, before Guy Ritchie started his epic bombing run of shitty movies. Except maybe the Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes. But that was more RDJ being great than Guy Ritchie being great.

Tostito Buddy

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Shepherd Kelley

Never in your lives will you see a New York movie that has more New York stuffed into every moment of it than The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. Also, sorry if anyone likes it, but please, please stay far away from the Tony Scott remake of the movie, which may be the worst remake I've ever seen. Scott even made a much better movie in the same vein that you can watch instead, called Unstoppable. Also, be aware that The French Connection has been censored on all digital services for some inexplicable reason. The only way to get the uncensored version is physical media.

Tyler Foster

Have seen all of these except for 'Lock, Stock...' and 'Wind River,' but I'm definitely into any winner here. Pelham 1 2 3 is probably my first choice, but it's close!

Paul Cox

Pelham 123 for sure. Glad to see older films represented here.
