COMING SOON!

Hey Everyone! Making some progress in catching up this long weekend! Happy Memorial Day! Dog Day Afternoon still coming too!

COMING SOON!

Comments

You realize saw is more a mystery movie, right? IDK why they include them in the torture porn genre. esp the first one

Mike keith

Dog Day Afternoon: fantastic reaction! Well worth the wait! Sam's face at the end was priceless, it brought me back to when I first saw it, when I was a kid, felt the same way! So, now you've seen Cuckoo's Nest and Dog Day Afternoon............who would YOU have voted for: Jack Nicholson or Al Pacino? (Jack won). Also, you've seen some three of the Best Picture nominees from that year: Cuckoo's Nest, Dog Day Afternoon and Jaws! Not a bad year for movies! Kubrick's Barry Lyndon and Robert Altman's Nashville are the two you haven't seen yet. This director, Sidney Lumet (12 Angry Men) followed this up with "Network" which is just as great and wild as this one....and was again nominated for Best Picture along with All The President's Men, Rocky and Taxi Driver! Dying for you to see THAT one so that you can weigh in on THAT year's Oscars! "Network" might very well be the best of the batch, I can never decide! A "murderer's row" of great movies! Anyways, THANKS, as always. This was one of the first movies I suggested back in 2021, so happy you finally saw it!!

What’s your first? (Guessing Evil Dead, never know)

I love the Saw movies. They are silly and stylistically overwrought, but their reputation as "torture porn" is, I think, a little overstated even if they are quite gory. Personally, I would say you can probably stop at Saw VI, which is not only the best one, but at the time VI was released, Paranormal Activity had swept in to take the box office crown from them, causing the producers to panic and condense the ideas they had for the next two films into a slapdash "finale." Not only is the resulting film one of the worst in the series (IMO), since then they've made three further movies (every long-running horror franchise has to have at least one finale that ends up not being a finale at all) and they've all been varying degrees of okay, but it feels like they lost whatever type of magic they once had (even if that magic was ridiculous).

Tyler Foster

LOL. I think George & Simone have that sorted already?

Guston Zimasheen

@Guston Do you write Cinebinge's weekly YouTube posts?

Tyler Foster

One of my all-time favorite movies. I have my DVD signed by Gene Hackman. Looking forward to the 4K UHD coming out later this year.

Tyler Foster

Someone in the YouTube comments mentioned this, but it bears repeating. John Cazale only acted in five movies, and all five were nominated for Best Picture. You've got Godfather & Godfather II, The Deer Hunter, and now Dog Day Afternoon crossed off the list. Now you just need to see Coppola's 'The Conversation' (starring Gene Hackman). It's totally worth watching for any reason, but for this reason it's a slam dunk.

Jigsaw: "I want to play a game". Dr. Lawrence Gordon: "As you wish".

It's nothing completely glaring. Just something you'll notice after watching a few from each director.

mikethemotormouth

My second favorite horror franchise!

mikethemotormouth

I can't wait for the fallout after you saw Lost In Translation.

Guston Zimasheen

Hello, TBR Schmitt. I want to play a game.

EdmanXERO

I hope Sam is feeling better!!! (and can't wait for Dog Day Afternoon!!!)

Toc

Granted you've only seen 3 Women, and, as far as I know, Lost in Translation will be your first Sofia Coppola watch, but be on the lookout for all the little stylistic choices she (reverently) borrows from Robert Altman. Their approaches to making a film are often similar.

Paul Cox

For relaxing times... Make it Suntory time 🍷😎

iliketostayhome

Whoa. Saw to Lost in Translation. Two movies I love but for very different reasons.

PIG

Hell yeah, can't wait for saw. I love those movies.

Chadwick Von

Thanks, because the only way I'm ever going to watch any of the Saw movies is with a YouTube edit lol
