I love that! Sometimes a theater full of people is the best way to watch a film! Really amps up the experience! -Sam

Love this movie!!! I could never remember "Mad Dog's" name in this and I've seen it many times. So instead I've always referred to him as "Sad Dog". Lol 😆

I saw this in the theater and it was one of the best movie-going experiences of my life. At multiple points the audience was left in stunned silence, not quite understanding the spectacle they had just witnessed before breaking into applause. One of the best movies ever to see with a room full of people.

It was so crazy that it was almost exclusively dubbed everywhere! I’m glad you were still able to enjoy it and it was a good dub 😊 -Sam

Great Reaction

One of the running gags is that the Japanase gang at the end are asking Iko if he wants to do a Raid 3, and then we get his answer. :D

So glad you guys enjoyed this, and thank you so much for checking it out! Honestly, after having watched a stretch of mediocre films, I checked out The Raid movies on a whim, and they got my thrilled to watch action movies/cinema again. The last 45 minutes of this movie are some of the best in action movie history, IMO. So far as further films like this...well. Gareth Evans did a horror film called Apostle in 2018, available on Netflix. Obviously it doesn't have the same level of action, but it is gruesome, intense, compelling, and BRUTAL. Some love it, some hate it, but I say it's worth a watch. The "grinder" action sequence ranks among the craziest shit you'll ever see! He also worked on the first season of a show called Gangs of London (available through Amazon). The story starts super strong and then, in my opinion, derails by the end of the season, but the ACTION is amazing, and gets me pumped for his next project, also for Netflix, HAVOC, an action film starring Tom Hardy, Timothy Olyphant and Forest Whitaker. This has actually been in the can for a while, but the actor's/writer's strike and some extensive reshoots have caused serious delays, but rumor has it release is coming later this year. If so, I am SUPER excited. Finally, Iko Uwais (Rama/Yuda), while failing to appear in any decent American films, has 2 very good Indonesian films beside the Raid movies: Headshot (2016) is an over-the-top take on the Bourne films, and the afore mentioned The Night Comes For Us (2018, another Netflix film) casts him as the villain against Joe Taslim (Jaka, from The Raid). Both of these films arguably make the gore in Raid 2 seem tame, so be warned.

I was watching my bluray copy along with your reaction and had forgotten about this ultraviolent deleted scene depicting gang warfare. I'm sure it was cut because it didn't really move the story forward but they obviously spent a lot of time and expense (and fake blood) filming it. https://youtu.be/fs_Qhmiz40E?si=HdNA3B-Y79n91gbM

Great sequel. Could definitely tell that this one had a bigger budget. Only two complaints were Mad Dog getting killed before he could team up with Rama and the way the film ended since it looks like we won't be getting a third Raid film.

My biggest (and only) diappointment with this film is, when I went to see it in the cinema I missed meeting the director by 5 minutes, turns out he'd just taken his nan to see it.

zak

Yeah, I was gonna mention "The Night Comes For Us" as well, but I got caught up in my long ass post. XD

You'd probably seen some films with cast members of The Raid 1 and 2 already without even knowing it. Iko Uwais (Rama), Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) and Cecep Arif Rahman (The Assassin) all appeared as members of a gang out to get Han Solo in The Force Awakens where, disappointingly, they do absolutely no fighting at all. Ruhian and Rahman appeared as John Wick's second to last opponents in JW3. Keanu was so impressed with their skills that he requested that their characters survive the battle. And Joe Taslim, the SWAT commander in the first film, played Sub-Zero in the most recent Mortal Kombat and also appeared in one of the Fast and the Furious films. The Night Comes For Us, available on Netflix, stars Taslim, Uwais and Julie Estelle (Hammer Girl) and is highly recommended. It's probably the closest a film has come to matching the intensity of The Raid films and is even more violent than either one.

Whew. Ok. Sorry for the long post. Trust me, I had a LOT more to say. Haha. First off, I just wanted to thank you both again for reacting to these movies. As I said before, these were the films that made me become a patreon to you guys in the first place in the hopes that you would react to them soon. So, thank you again for accomplishing my goals. But, DAMN, I still get an adrenaline rush from this one, even if only for the Rama vs. The Assassin (Knife guy) kitchen fight. I still believe that is one of the greatest 1v1 fights in cinema history, definitely in my Top 3. The intensity, the stress, the music buildup, and the determination from both sides to just survive still gives me chills. I enjoyed Mad Dog's new character in this one, a complete 180 from the first film. He made you more sympathetic for his story, and it was heartbreaking when he got killed in the snow. I call him "Sad Dog". Haha. I mean, what else can I really say that I haven't said before? The story was more grand, the fights were more brutal, and the stakes were incredibly high for not just Rama, but even the gangs themselves. Everybody just wanted their share and their own brand of justice. There was SUPPOSED to be a Raid 3, and it was supposed to take place 2 hours BEFORE the ending of Raid 2. However, the director changed his mind, feeling that he couldn't have the third movie live up to the legacy of this film, so he scrapped it. And so, we're left with the more ambiguous ending of Rama's fate. There's all these kinds of interpretations on what Goto's son and Rama said to each other. Mine is that he offered him some kind of deal to join their gang. But at this point, Rama is just DONE. Like, he just wants to either go home and be with his family, or just die, period. The man has been through so much shit in both movies in a 3 year span that he is just exhausted. Not to mention, he started off as a ROOKIE. Still my favorite martial arts movie saga ever, and I'm so happy that you finally gave it a chance. Thank you both again for the third time. You guys are legends.

I've been watching most of the movies with you using the YouTube movies Channel. I think they've always came with subtitles with most, if not all. But with this movie they had it English dubbed. I personally don't mind too much
