I'm not sure if that is revealed in the show but it's clear in Poe's 1839 original short story. There are several references to many of Poe's literary works already in this episode but I think as it goes you'll pick it all up well. So far you're doing great! Can't wait for more episodes...I love Mike Flanagan!

I've seen most of Flanagan's movies but none of his Netflix shows, so I'm going to go back and watch your reactions to those to keep me occupied.
