It’s true that German civilians retaliated against downed Allied airmen. I could be wrong but I was under the impression that those were civilian gendarmerie (very young, as fighting age men were in the war) who let the angry public attack the men, although it was against the Geneva Convention. Once under the guard of the Luftwaffe, they were generally treated per the GC.

Not sure if anyone has addressed this already, but you guys are definitely not seeing the subtitles(sometimes place names, but a lot of German in this one) that have been popping up throughout the series. Not sure how to fix that on your end but just FYI. Love the reactions!

WW2 history is a hobby of mine, so I am excited to see if they will depict combat between B-17s and german Me-262s-- the first jet fighters ever used in combat, the Americans were taken completely by surprise when those suckers flew past them at 900KPH!!! the B-17 could only fly at about 300 mph.

Stalag Luft III, the POW camp where Buck and Bucky are reunited, is the same camp where the real The Great Escape will later take place.

the German Luftwaffe interrogator was talking about the Gestapo (Secret state police) they and the SS were hitlers most brutal enforcers. From what I have read, even other german military personnel feared them.
Also, the reunion of buck and bucky warmed my heart!!!!
