Carrie (1976) First Time Watching! Full Movie Reaction!!

Love Daniel's reaction at the start of this one. It's very soft porn. Is this the right movie 🎬 😆

Backlog Andy M.

Or 'Let the right one in', which Hollywood didn't ruin.

Another child bully revenge scary movie stars Chloë Grace Moretz, the girl from The Equalizer and Kickass, is called Let Me In 2010. It's a great movie with all kind of twists. Again Let Me In, 2010 with a very young Chloë Grace Moretz. very scary :)

Lana Gorgeous

Great reactions, Sam and Dan! I believe this was the first of Stephen King ‘s works being adapted to movies. While it’s easy to jump from “Stephen King” to “Supernatural”, I’ve got to disagree with the supernatural bent. What I see is a Fundamentalist Christian pounding in to her daughter those tenets and beliefs. The telekinesis powers manifested once Carrie underwent puberty and menstruation. It was then she started researching what was going on. What happened at the prom was a psychotic break where Carrie endured the shock of the public ridicule, her mother’s programming kicked in and boom, she saw delusions where everyone was laughing at her. Everyone laughs at her, everyone dies. Additionally, it wasn’t just the high school girls who were picking on her. Remember the kid on the bike yelling at her, “Creepy Carrie! Creepy Carrie!”? The Jesus picture didn’t creep me out even half way the figurine in the closet did. With those bright white eyes… Also, Carrie didn’t lose the volleyball game. Sue hit the ball into the net, and then hit it again once it came out of the net. Without someone else hitting it between the two hits, that’s a double-hit and illegal. Miss Collins should have called the game right then. And Carrie shouldn't have been blamed for the loss.

Haha yeah!

Hey, I was right!

Tyler Foster

They actually talk about this in the outro, so I think you'll get your wish one of these days.

Tyler Foster

More tidbits- William Katt(Tommy) is the son of Barbara Hale best known for playing Della Street on TV's Perry Mason. When they brought it back in the late 80's Katt played Paul Drake Jr. Mason's private investigator .

Keith Brown

Sissy spacek was also in "Blast from the Past", been wanting Sam to react to that one for the longest lol I believe Daniel has seen it already and I think he enjoyed it

dieselbeast

Like Carrie, as you probably can see from my name and pic, I have red hair, so I was an easy target. The last laugh is on me though, because I got to take yearbook pictures standing next to the hottest popular girls in the school. I didn't do what Carrie did either HAHA

Mike the Ginger

You liked Sissy Spacek so much, you should watch Coal Miner's Daughter. That's probably her signature film.

Jen Barnes

"Grease" came out 2 years later. This was indeed the movie that put John Travolta on the map big time. PS: for the love of god, someone please make a video edit of TBR saying "Damn, that's a lot of bush" cut to Jordan Belfort's dad from Wolf of Wall Street saying: "I don't mind it!" :)))

Alec S

Wow. Since nothing happened, I'm kind of glad you didn't know, or it might have made you needlessly afraid all night. It must have really freaked you out after when you saw the movie and got the context for everything that was happening.

Raven Dark

Watched the full length film with you guys. True story: 20 years ago in Spring 2004, I was sort of a nerdy guy in school and got elected as one of the main "Kings" of Winter Formal in Freshman year of High School sort of as a joke. One of the bullies teased that I would have pig's blood spilled on me "just like Carrie". I went to the dance, and nothing happened but I found out later that the school teachers were on alert because of the rumors of someone trying to pull a "Carrie". I had no idea what they were talking about, so after the dance, I ran into the video store and rented "Carrie", went home and watched it. (Btw, this story really happened, no joke). Good job on the reaction! - Mike

I haven't had time to watch the full reaction yet, but I snuck in watching your before and afterthoughts, and this is going to be such a fun watch. I can't wait. After hearing what you guys said about Daniel's fears of demonic stuff (and seeing that hilarious post about the Jesus painting and Bart), I gotta say, you two need to watch The Exorcist. It'll give Daniel nightmares for the rest of his life, but it is a brilliantly done film with fantastic acting, and although I don't think it's possible to enjoy that movie, I think you both will appreciate it for what it is. Just, either get rid of, or put that Jesus painting and the Bart doll somewhere else, first. Maybe in a basement. Or a very deep hole.

Raven Dark

Great reaction! Some cast tidbits: Nancy Allen (Kris) = future Mrs. DePalma and is in some of his other films from that period as well and Amy Irving (Sue) = future Mrs. Spielberg — the first one. And Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie are brilliant 😀

Michael Soukup

Okay, I completely know how Daniel feels. I had a ouija board that belonged to my grandmother, then my mother, and then I wound up with it. I wanted to get rid of it for the longest time but I felt I couldn’t because then something bad would happen. I finally did chuck it, but I understand Daniel’s pain. It took me years to get rid of the damn thing. This is one of the best reactions. You guys definitely need to do more horror movies. This is classic.

Robert Boyd

Christine would be a great reaction. Stephen King plus John Carpenter.

So sweet! ❤️ -Sam

Wow thank you! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Literally! Almost as scary as the painting 😂 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Yes we failed 😂 -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Thanks for sharing! I was curious what people thought of the remake! I’d be interested to see that ending! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Definitely on our list! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

It sure did make us uncomfortable! Thanks for sharing all this!! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I brought this up and Daniel said he noticed the car but was so engulfed it what was happening he didn’t say anything. I was like you should have! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Daniel's ability to make Sam laugh uncontrollably is still one of my favorite aspects of the channel. And like another commenter suggested, a great Stephen King adaptation is Christine (1983), and it's directed by John Carpenter. Highly recommend.

Hunter DeRensis

One of my favorite reactions from you guys. You really made me laugh but I felt the tension from you too.

PIG

OMG that Bart Simpson doll sounds horrifying lol

Brian Anthony

Dressed To Kill & Body Double

Great Reaction

Sam rules! Did you guys forget what Randy said? There's always one last scare! 😱

Ellie Miller

They remade Carrie about 10 years ago with Chloe Grace Moretz, which is ok but can't match the style of the original. It does add one cool detail though; Carrie floats out of the prom. I think the problem with that film is at that point CGM was best known as Hit Girl, a tough superhero, so you didn't really buy her as a meek and mild Carrie White. The remake restores the ending of King's book where the White house is destroyed by falling rocks as a biblical reference. De Palma couldn't do that because it was too expensive in the 70s so he just had the house collapse.

Odd Thomas

It took me a lot of viewings to notice it too.

Brad P

Huh. I'm a huge King fan and have seen this movie at least a dozen times and I never noticed that. Now it cannot be unseen.

Thomas Yanez

Christine is a great Stephen King film

Odd Thomas

The "dream sequence" at the end is hinted at before it's revealed. Sue walking towards the camera in slow motion is filmed in "reverse", meaning the actress is walking backwards and then the film is played forward. In the background, cars are driving backwards up the street. De Palma purposely did this to make audiences subconsciously uncomfortable, feeling that something is "wrong" but can't quite place it. Also: The film begins in a shower that involves blood. There's a shower of blood at the prom. And then Carrie is metaphorically "cleansed" when she takes the bath after the prom and washes off the blood. BONUS TRIVIA: De Palma and George Lucas held joint auditions on the same day in the same studio for Carrie and Star Wars. Actors auditioned for both films, meaning that they'd read for Carrie in one room then read for Star Wars in another. This means that Carrie Fisher auditioned for Carrie and Sissy Spacek auditioned for Princess Leia.

Grumpy Old Gen-Xer

Both Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie received Oscar nominations for their roles, a very rare feat for a horror film. If you watch closely in the final scene of Sue walking to the remains of Carrie's house, you can see that the cars in the background are moving in reverse, the first clue that something is amiss.

Brad P

All right Carrie! Can't wait to watch the reaction! On another reaction channel they said this isn't a horror movie, it's a tragedy, which I tend to agree with. Other Brian De Palma films that I recommend are Blow Out and Body Double. Other Stephen King films that I recommend are Creepshow, Christine, The Dead Zone and Secret Window.

Samolina Pilchard

Blow Out, Mission Impossible, Raising Cain and The Untouchables are some other good De Palma movies. I always forget Betty Buckley is in this (the nice teacher); M. Night Shyamalan used her in a lot of his recent movies

Odd Thomas

Thank you so much! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

I’ve been watching you two for awhile now on your YouTube channel and my favorite reactions have always been the horror movies reactions. So I’m looking forward to watching a full length reaction to one ( Sam you have the best reactions to horror movies on YouTube, they are always great and hilarious to watch )

FWPJR.

Thank you for the recommendations! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

This might be our most unhinged outro! 😂 besides Candyman! I hope you enjoy! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Oh yes, this will be a great reaction to watch. This is a fantastic movie, I can’t wait to watch this later tonight.

FWPJR.
