Crime Film Poll!

Help pick the Crime movie we will react to!

Please feel free to suggest other options in the comments for future polls!

*NOTE: I have seen End of Watch, Inside Man, & Smokin' Aces, so this would only be Sam's first time reaction.

We received a ton suggestions on the last polls, but we are trying to keep the poll sizes more reasonable. We have noted all suggestions for future polls!

Comments

Awesome!! Looking forward to the content, as usual. Really wasn't trying to rush you or anything. I've just gotten so used to seeing your weekly schedule notifications in my email that it threw me for a bit of a loop when they didn't appear for a bit.

James Miley

We hear you! We filmed a bunch this weekend and Daniel’s trying to get things edited so we were hoping to be a solid week ahead on Patreon so we could post the schedule in sync with YT, but a week early for you guys! Hoping that happens this week but upcoming is Inside Man, Patton (full length posted), Carrie and JFK! MOTA we can’t post ahead so just movies for now! -Sam

TBR Schmitt

Absolutely. The weekly Patreon schedule is just something that I would like to see come back at some point. Still loving the channel.

James Miley

I hear ya but I give them a pass, Daniel and Sam have been amazing ever since they started this channel, they are parents now and Daniel I believe still has a day job, yes the weekly coming soon post would nice but it's not the worst thing in the world if they don't post those for a few weeks, we'll be ok

Great to see that one of the films I voted for, Carlito's Way, has won the poll. Keeping my fingers crossed that the other film I voted for, The French Connection, gets a reaction soon as well since it was only five votes behind. Also, I hope that the weekly schedules get brought back for Patreon soon. I know TBR is still doing them on YouTube but since they're not in sync at the moment I think it would help if there was a weekly schedule for both going forward, so we know what to expect every week going forward.

James Miley

I can't believe it Carlitos way is finally going to win! I'm so happy 😭😁😂😭😁😭😁

dieselbeast

One Day Ronin will win, and on that day, you will enjoy a great late 90s thriller.

Luetin

Wind River is very overlooked I think. Lot of good choices here.

FischerMax98

Man, how'd i forget that one??

Smooticus

It's one of my favorite Coen Bro's movies

Smooticus

(c) The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) ✅

YoureMrLebowski

i second them all, but i second "all the president's men" first.

YoureMrLebowski

Miller's Crossing (1990) please and thank you

YoureMrLebowski

Attica! Attica! Attica! Brilliant direction by Sidney Lumet, (12 Angry Men) and fabulous performances by Pacino, John Cazele and Charles Durning!

Catherine LW

For Future Crime Poll i recommend "Marathon Man" from 1976 with Dustin Hoffman and "All The Presidents Men" from 1976 with Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford and "No Way Out" from 1987 with Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman

Florian Meier

Future crime movies to consider that a lot of viewers here may not have seen: King of New York Q and A Internal Affairs (1988 Richard Gere) Miller's Crossing Thomas Crown Affair The Drop To Live and Die in LA

Smooticus

Come on, Dog Day Afternoon! Most underrated film here. Terrifying and hilarious at the same time!

Catherine LW

Too bad “Lucky Number Slevin” wasn’t included in this poll!!! Josh Hartnet, Bruce Willis, Morgan freeman, Ben Kingsley and Lucy Liu

JayDee AhBooWan

Voted Ronin, but I always felt like the movie wasn't named well.

Brian

An excellent movie

Smooticus

I'd love to see Crash rise to the top of some sort of poll, but it doesn't look like it'll be this one, haha. It's an amazing film which I hope finds it's place in a reaction someday.

Eric J Watkins

Suggestions for future polls. All these films involve a crime of some kind or another: (a) The original (1968) "The Thomas Crown Affair" w Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, directed by Norman Jewison, who just passed away last week (b) "Blow Out" w John Travolta (c) "The Talented Mr. Ripley" w Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Jude Law and Philip Seymore Hoffman (d) "Side Effects", directed by Steven Soderbergh

adam weisler

Since you guys are looking for more Denzel Washington movies to watch, I'm going to recommend the movie Ricochet from 1991. It's like Tango and Cash in that the movie starts in a way that you think is a pretty standard formula, then it turns into a wild ride lol

Torben Dix

Carlito's Way is a gorgeously acted film with those DePalma touches who seems relaxed and in his wheelhouse with this one. another crime film to consider (and personal fave :) is Gangster No 1 with Paul Bettany. i love that movie so much, but its hard to find on streaming services. if it ever does stream ill make it as part of my Schmitthead's entry.

john francis

suggestion for a future poll : Crown Vic

Ed R

Just searched previous polls - Dog Day Afternoon has lost at least 5 previous polls, going back 2 years, which I'm guessing is hard for any other film to match here. Since it seems destined to lose this poll as well, maybe you can just select it for one of the non poll picks you use? It's on the AFI top 100 and was nominated for many Oscars, despite it losing all these polls it's not some obscure cult film I promise:) Popcorn in Bed even reacted to it!

Birdie Num Num

Carlito's Way won't need my vote, but I expect it to come out ahead of Dog Day Afternoon as it always does. I guess it depends on whether you like "badass" Al Pacino or "nervous wreck" Al Pacino. I prefer the latter.

Paul Cox

I couldn't pass up on Carlitos way, but blood in blood out is definitely worth a reaction

dieselbeast

Wow! That's some collection. A lot of "obscure" (for lack of a better word" films. Sexy Beast gets my vote, but Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 is another favorite. I think you should just put all of these in a playlist and do one a day!

David Martin

Argh. I love Al Pacino, and I love Gene Hackman. I guess I will go with Dog Day. I like it slightly better than French.

Athos Count de la Fère

Even if it doesn't win, I'm hoping you will watch Wind River sometime soon. I think you would really appreciate it! Thank you ~

Ed Garland

Blood in Blood out all the way

Javier B

Blood In, Blood Out will probably never win a poll but it is a crazy story that most closely recreates the true story of how the Mexican Mafia started in California prisons, and how at one point a white guy, the son of Croatian immigrants who grew up in a Mexican neighborhood in LA eventually ran it, although they changed a few, but key, facts (for one, he's portrayed as being half Mexican). American ME is a better made version of the story with a better budget and kind of a better cast, but it's less accurate, to the extent that several people were actually murdered for participating, and over some of the misrepresentations that were taken as insults. Danny Trejo, who was in Blood In, Blood Out has said in interviews that he personally had to intervene because the star and director of American ME, Edward James Olmos, was about to be killed for making the movie over a scene that was considered a direct insult to the founder of the Mexican Mafia.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Carlito Brigante

Brian Sevilla

Love Carlito's way, the "last of the mo-riccans!"

Chris Bruneau

I love Ronin, an underrated film. I am happily surprised to see it get some love.

Kurt Yost

Gotta be lock stock for me 👍 I am British so .... Plus it's so good

Ian

Wind River better get to at least runner-up position. Such a great film!

David Lengyel

Voted Blood In, Blood Out and Carlito's Way.

Jeffrey Miller

Donnie Brasco. Let’s go

Jonathon Jankoski

Nice picks! Hopefully Dog Day Afternoon will win one day. 🤞
