Siskel and Ebert were syndicated. There was no network

I actually thought both the sequels were quite entertaining. When you factor in the fact that they were actually married in real life, it's quite sweet. In the third one you see them having kid. I would recommend watching them. Also very wholesome.

sharkey197

very enjoyable fun movie, thanks for the reaction!

Charles Mitchell

Don't forget about Jewel of the Nile, the sequel to Romancing the Stone. Great adventure movie - better than the first imo

Odd Thomas

I disagree about 3. 3 has a lot of great moments.

Alex

There's more than 3?

Alex

I had no idea Coming to America was like that.. I'm gonna have to watch it now.

Alex

Quote of the year goes to Daniel: “Dad? No wonder she has a blank check.”

Jason Dolan

such a classic!!! love it!

Chris Bruneau

The sequel is decent, but stop there. The rest are pretty hit n miss

Also if you go to Queensland/Gold Coast do NOT swim in the canals, even though houses are on their banks and it looks idyllic. There are Bull sharks in there and 3 years before I went to live there for a while a 3 year old girl got taken by a bull shark. They're the most aggressive shark and massively dangerous. They're also the only shark that can swim in salt AND fresh water, so they swim up rivers in places like Australia, South Africa, East coast of Southern US and India.

It reminds me a bit of Coming to America, where a 'fish out of water' from a foreign land falls in love with a New York woman who is already seeing a rich douchebag, and at the end they have a public love spat in front of invested New York subway commuters. It makes me wonder whether Eddie Murphy drew inspiration from Crocodile Dundee as Crocodile Dundee was made in 86 and Coming to America was 88.

Aaron Barlow

Quintessential 80s classic. I love that it has some gags that would be considered 'offensive' by humourless woke morons nowadays. The 80s was more free in it's humour and social mores.

Aaron Barlow

Ah the 80s nostalgia, taking it in. I remember being a kid and this movie suddenly made everything Australian just the coolest thing ever. To be honest the sequels were not good in my recollection, this was a kind of a one hit wonder. Couple fun facts: Paul Hogan married his costar, I think they met sort of the way Steven Speilberg met Kate Capshaw (Willy in Temple of Doom), he casted her specifically because he was attracted to her, but I could be wrong, I vaguely remember hearing or reading that somewhere; also, i saw a few skits from some show that Paul Hogan was in, sort of an Australian Benny Hill, racy humor, girls in bikinis, absurd late night stuff. I still love this type of character, tough but clever, funny, and not afraid to be the butt of the joke sometimes, like Jack Colton in Romancing the Stone. Chris Pratt in Guardians is another like that. It's funny because they're all kind of like Indiana Jones, but Indians Jones was kind of like the original Flash Gordon, and Star Lord is basically Flash Gordon. In other words I'm recommending Flash Gordon lol, it's cheesy as hell but you can't beat a Queen soundtrack.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

you recognize the driver Reginald VelJohnson from his role as Sgt. Al Powell in Die Hard and probably also from Family Matters

Opie Wan

No offense, but I seriously cannot fathom how this movie won this comedy poll.

Friend of mine lives in Australia and opened his mail box and funnel spiders crawled out.

Jason Mangen

I recall the second movie being as good as this one. And fyi, the actress that played Sue (Linda Kozlowski) and Paul Hogan ended up getting married around the time of the 2nd movie, and stayed married for 24 years.

Vwlss Nvwls

You two were watching the right version. The dubs you saw were likely to keep it from getting an R rating, because it was supposed to be a film for the whole family.

Vwlss Nvwls

You definitely have to watch all 3 of them. The 3rd one is definitely the weaker one of the 3, but still good. The second one takes place mostly in Australia, so you do get to see a lot more of them in Australia, and I think we'll be hearing Daniel be describing it as sick again :)

Alex

I saw this in the theater with my parents the week it released, and we loved it. On the next episode of Siskel & Ebert (a movie review t.v. show) they absolutely dogged this movie. I remember my father and I shocked that they did not at least like it a little. However, on the following weeks episode they started the show with a sort of apology, in that they explained how their opinions are based on blah blah blah. I just laughed because it was obvious that they caught a lot of flak for their review and the network made them walk it back a little. :D

What a great Surprise;) one of my favorite Comedy Films of All Time !!! Love the ending !!! The Sequel is also good!!! For another Romantic Comedy i recommend "Overboard" from 1987 with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn ...

The gathering as strictly gender specific. Men aren't allowed to attend 'Women's business' gatherings either.

Land owners with a license are allowed to shoot karagaroos in order to cull numbers because the population is growing too large. Otherwise its illegal.

Just when you're in NSW don't reach into any holes in trees, logs or undergrowth. Funnelweb spiders are the deadliest spiders in the world.

Aaron Barlow

YES!!

Alex

Being afraid of Australia for the spiders is like being afraid of Arizona for the snakes. I have a lot of Australian friends I will hook you up with when you go so you can avoid all the spider infested venues!

Jason Dolan

I was legit just thinking how do I kill two hours while I’m capturing THE NAKED GUN for a reaction and this pops up on my phone. It’s like you and Dan are INSIDE MY HEAD!
