Fargo Season 2 Episode 10 'Palindrome' Full TV Reaction!!

Comments

Lou did get shot on the job, but he said it was at a random traffic stop.

Opie Wan

Fargo season 3 has Carrie Coon, who is absolutely amazing!

Robert Boyd

The two kids playing baseball are suggested to be Wrench and Numbers from S1, hence the sign language.

Marshall Mitcham

Others have mentioned some of the references to Coen Bros. films. Sometimes I'll be watching this show and wonder, "Is this a reference or a coincidence?"

Jeffrey Miller

Haven't seen the last of Mr Wrench!!!

Jonny Kerr (JK)

Did you recognize Hanzi in season 1 now? Billy Bob killed him. He was the boss of the Fargo mob. The one eating the fish in the restaurant. So cool!

Jonny Kerr (JK)

Yeaaah I gotta admit. I really liked the S3 villain.

PIG

So here is an irony for ya!--Hanzee ends up getting killed by Loren Malvo (this show is so creative!!!!)

Chris Bruneau

Season 3 has an incredible villain, very different from the main baddies of S1 and S2. The four leads of S3 all received multiple award nominations for their performances.

Season 3 kicks ass, so does 4. Don't listen to the haters. 5 has been great so far too!!!!

Jonny Kerr (JK)

Hanzee's sudden killing of the pickup truck driver who stops for Ed and Peggy is a nod to the almost identical moment in No Country for Old Men. Adam Arkin, the actor who played Mike Milligan's boss, also directed the last two episodes of the season.

Brad P

The sudden appearance of Hanzee in the dream also references an earlier moment in Raising Arizona where one of Hi's dreams is interrupted by the appearance of his eventual nemesis, Leonard Smalls (also appearing through flames).

I said this before in another video, but Kirsten Dunst was absolutely amazing and my favorite this season. I think I always thought of her roles as meh in the past, but here I absolutely saw Peggy as a real character, who was lost of herself as a person, but once she found herself, she fully committed and it didn't matter whether the cops, Gerhardt's, or psychopaths like Hanzee were after her, she was absolutely determined to see her and Ed's dreams become reality. it's a shame, because I think she pushed Ed down this hard path and ultimately he could not keep up and it caused his death.

Moses Tripoli is the head of the Fargo mob in season 1 and only has one scene where he speaks in the first season. It's in the very beginning of episode 6. He speaks with the same short sentences that Hanzee often does. "Not apprehend. Dead. Kill and be killed. There's the message." So Hanzee's story is that he gives up his indigenous heritage and gets plastic surgery to appear more American and become the new boss of the Gerhardt empire of Fargo... all so that he can grow old, put on weight and end up getting gunned down by Lorne Malvo around 20 years later. IMO the episode does confirm that Hanzee was Otto's son, which explains why Dodd calls him 'half breed' and not some other slur. Those two kids communicating with sign language were totally a young Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers.

Brandon

Glad you loved it and looking forward down the road to S3. Also, the two younger kids in the baseball field where Hansi was I think are supposed to be a young Wrench and Numbers from S1.

Ricardo Alanis

you made my Tuesday. You made it a little sadder? Or maybe just made me think about my own life. The speech by Lou in the car with Peggy was so sad and at the same time uplifting.

Anthony Perez

The best opening to a show finale ever! What a tear jerker mixed with thrill and anticipation. And it’s lifted from the ending of Raising Arizona, which is why it’s so great. That and the Iron Man (Edit: War Pigs) song.

PIG

Great reaction, guys! I'll leave listing all the Easter eggs and connections not just to Season 1 but to other touchstones in the Coen Brothers universe, but there are A LOT of them. I just wanted to say a word about Lou's story about the Chinook helicopter and his ship in the South China Sea during the fall of Saigon. This is an entirely true story! It features thrillingly in the fantastic 2014 documentary "Last Days in Vietnam". The pilot, Ba Van Nguyen, is an incredible testament to what humans are capable of when the survival of their family is at stake and there are no other options, and really the most perfect example for Lou to use to make the point of paternal responsibility/privilege. Here’s a link to a 2 minute segment from the above documentary of Nguyen’s unbelievable effort. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn6Ry7ULZ3s
