Haruto listened to Mei Li's explanation with a calm and controlled expression, but inside his head, chaotic thoughts emerged. He was deeply surprised by the information.
'Isn't this like Spider-Sense? Like Spider-Man's ability?' Haruto thought, trying to remain composed even though his heart was racing.
Mei Li's Intuition ability sounded very similar to Spider-Sense from the comics Haruto had read. If that were true, it would be extremely difficult to attack Mei Li in secret. Mei Li could sense danger even before it happened. Haruto began to wonder how far this ability extended.
'Does it work even when she's asleep or unconscious? Like Spider-Man, who can move automatically when there's a threat?'
Haruto's curiosity grew, and without realizing it, he stared at Mei Li with a gaze full of fascination. His eyes shone as if he had discovered something incredibly intriguing. Unfortunately, that look did not go unnoticed by Jie Li, Mei Li's daughter, who immediately felt uncomfortable.
'Why is this guy staring at my mom with such a weird look?' Jie Li thought, her face beginning to redden in annoyance. As a protective daughter, Jie Li couldn't let anyone look at her mother in a way she deemed inappropriate.
"Enough! Stop staring at my mom like that!" Jie Li yelled angrily, and without warning, she punched Haruto right in the stomach.
"Ugh!" Haruto gasped, feeling his breath nearly knocked out of him. Jie Li's punch was not something to take lightly, and immediately, Haruto clutched his stomach, trying to catch his breath.
"Oh my, Jie Li! Don't be so rough!" Mei Li panicked and rushed to Haruto, who was still struggling to cope with the pain.
"Haruto, are you alright? Are you hurt? Do we need to go to the hospital?" With a worried face, Mei Li checked on Haruto, who could only slowly shake his head.
"I... I'm fine..." Haruto replied in a raspy voice, though his stomach was still throbbing with pain.
Meanwhile, Jie Li crossed her arms over her chest, still upset. "He made me angry! That weird look was really disrespectful!" she said with a huff, her eyes glaring at Haruto with a clear warning.
Haruto, though still feeling the ache in his stomach, began to laugh inwardly, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
'Damn, maybe it's not just Mei Li who's dangerous here...' Haruto thought, realizing that dealing with this mother and daughter pair might be more challenging than he had imagined.
"Jie Li! How many times have I told you not to go around hitting men for no reason!" Mei Li glared at her daughter, her voice stern but controlled. Jie Li, after receiving the scolding, remained silent, though her eyes still pierced Haruto with a sharp look.
Haruto, still feeling the impact of the punch, started to feel uneasy, as if the issue was far from resolved.
'Why does it feel like I'm being scapegoated here?' Haruto thought, feeling his heartbeat quicken under the pressure of Jie Li's intense gaze.
"But Mom! This guy was staring at you with a weird look!" Jie Li finally defended herself, her voice full of indignation.
"That’s no reason to hit Haruto! Look at him, poor Haruto." Mei Li crossed her arms, her expression showing clear displeasure. She glanced at Haruto, who still looked a bit pale after the incident.
