My personal favorite of the recent American MonsterVerse films. I've always had a soft spot for Kong. I highly recommend the original King Kong film from 1933. One of the best monster films ever made.

This is the type of movie I love and would have sparked my imagination as a kid. I remember convincing my dad to let me stay up late to watch "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" when I was 7 years old. Gave me a lifelong fascination/fear of underwater sea monsters, but I love it! Same with watching "King Kong" (1933) when really young. Wish they made more quality monster movies.

Kong was just a youngling in Peter Jackson's King Kong. And then grew up fast after that. jk

They greatly increased Kong's size for this film compared to his earlier solo films because they knew he would be going head-to-head with Godzilla in his next appearance. He's grown even bigger by the time Godzilla Vs Kong begins.

It's funny because John Goodmans motives seem cruel and an overreaction when applied to Kong, but as the next films progress you realize he kind of has a point.

Sam: “What is that?”
Daniel: (with his classic Captain Obvious statement) “Something giant.”
Love it 🤣🤣🤣

Movie trivia: Samuel L Jackson’s character Packard quoted the line “Hold on to your butts.” A callback to saying the same line in Jurassic Park portraying the character John “Ray” Arnold. 🙃

My nephews loved this movie and kept asking me to play it over and over again when they were toddlers. My sister told me that they kept having nightmares from this but they still begged her to get a copy they could watch at home. My sister would let them watch it with me when they would visit and whenever she would leave the room, I'd sneak them cookies, chocolate, and cupcakes that they weren't supposed to have while they kept watching it to help fuel those nightmares.
