I've loved this movie ever since I saw it; definitely one of my favorites. I relate a lot to D-Fens; always angry that things aren't the way I think they should be. Existential angst.
What I really like about this movie is that there are so many different ways to interpret it, especially for one as straight-forward narratively as this. For instance some people think the Nazi character is to make D-Fens look better by comparison, whereas others think the exact opposite, that the Nazi repeating "you and me are the same" is supposed to illustrate how far D-Fens had fallen.
And I think even the most morally simple viewers will get the meaning of the line, "I'm the bad guy?"

He even used an "invincible" cheat code to instantly get a bunch of weapons-- not to mention using a rocket launcher to blow up a construction site. Side mission? Haha

Since you guys are doing some great Michael Douglas Movies I will have to lend my support for the already forementioned films:
Black Rain - Wall Street - Fatal Attraction - Basic Instinct - The Ghost and the Darkness.
But My favorite Michael Douglas film of all time is "The Game" (1997). Directed by David Fincher who did "seven, fight club, gone girl, Social network, panic room, Benjamin button, and others." I cannot tell you what the game is about, for it would ruin the whole thing. But it would be perfect for christmas even though it is not a christmas movie. Watch it and find out why,

You guys might want to put "God Bless America" on your list which came out a bit later. I think it would be closer to what you guys were expecting here with a similar scenario and social commentary, but with a LOT more laughs.

Douglas is always incredible but I think this is Robert Duvall's best performance, even better than Douglas in this instance. Duvall has a great ability to make a single moment really poignant, like when he mentions his daughter in the end of the movie. This bitter hurt that stabs him and he hides it real quick. You feel it.
Also, the score was awesome, I agree! That weird water swoosh sound and the electric guitar. It's very unique.

One of Douglas's finest. I hope you also get around to The Game, and the Romancing the Stone sequel, Jewel of the Nile.

Fun fact I noticed on this watch, the writer is credited as Guy on Freeway, I think he was the guy who helps push the car off the road in the beginning. He definitely had to be inspired by having a really bad day in LA lol, granted, like every major city, there are a lot of assholes, but not EVERY SINGLE PERSON lol, literally everyone he ran into was just the worst version of someone you'd meet in LA.
This movie is almost dark humor, but then it gets just plain dark. Bill reminds me a lot of Walt from Breaking Bad, both intelligent, seemingly mild mannered guys, but actually kind of arrogant because of their intelligence, who carry a lot of simmering resentment that finally boils over and turns them from victim to villain.
Well this checks off another one of my LA Crime movie list, you guys have seen several of them like LA Confidential, Chinatown, and Collateral, Training Day is another big one on that list.

Wow. Listening to you talk about what you thought the movie was going to be like in the intro? Wow. I was just sitting here watching, knowing you clearly had no idea what you were getting into at all. I'm sure I laughed out loud a couple times at your predictions.
You were also so amused at the thought of being compared to and being similar to the Michael Douglass character. It was very much a 'oh no. no no no' moment watching that.
Yes. Very dark movie. Very. But it is an amazing movie. I love it and pull it out to watch it from time to time.

This movie was like a game of Grand Theft Auto. LOL
It started out in a car. He got out of his car and started building up star wanted levels. He even visited “Burger Shot” and “Ammu-Nation”. Then he committed random acts of carnage, ending up with a 5 star police wanted Level then…. “WASTED”.

Sounds like one of those E! Entertainment kind of fun facts, in which E! listed (and later apologized for) Michael J Fox being "diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1991" under the label 'Fun Fact' while covering the Golden Globes in 2014.

I'm personally waiting for a reaction to Naked Gun 2 1/2, but hopefully there's something more light-hearted and fun coming up soon for both of you compared to most of these recent films, regardless of what that movie is.

It was not friendly banter the other cops were doing to Pendergast. They did not respect him because he chose to ride a desk and refused to go out in the field, because of his wife. So they were all shit, and that one especially deserved a punch in the face.

This is such a great, albeit slightly disturbing/depressing movie. I always enjoy watching it despite how dark it is, because Michael Douglas does such a great job (as usual).

Fun fact: This movie was filmed during the 1992 LA riots. Some say that the atmosphere of this movie was affected by those events.
